With a young upstart challenging for the Bundesliga, a crazed fan-based ready to win their first Premier League title, a women’s World Cup in France this summer, and dysfunction at a La Liga giant…2019 is shaping up to be one for the books.

Here’s 19 predictions for 2019. We’ll check back in December and see how we did.

  1. Liverpool capture the Premier League. The wait is over for Reds fans. They’ll have it locked up come May.
  2. Bayern Munich come back to win the Bundesliga. BVB gave it a run, but Bayern Munich turn it up in 2019 and eeeek this one out on the final weekend.
  3. Barcelona runs away with La Liga. Sure, Atletico Madrid is making it interesting for now, but Barcelona’s far superior goal differential indicates they’re the far superior squad, and they’ll separate themselves completely by the end of March.
  4. And they win the Champions League. The Coupe des Clubs Champions Européens stays on Spanish soil.
  5. PSG wins Ligue 1. Obv. Is there a more boring major league?
  6. Juventus holds off Napoli for Serie A. Napoli will surge but Juventus holds on for their 35th Serie A title.
  7. Manchester United miss out on the top 4 in Premier League.
  8. But shock the world to make the top 4 in the Champions League.
  9. Mo Salah wins the Golden Boot again in the Premier League. He may not set the record again, but that doesn’t mean he’s fallen off either.
  10. As does Alex Morgan during the Women’s World Cup.
  11. Which the USWNT wins.
  12. The NY Red Bulls win MLS Cup. Atlanta United will not repeat, as the drop-off from Tata to de Boer will be too great.
  13. Christian Pulisic struggles for Chelsea. It’s going to take him some time to adapt. He’s not setting the league ablaze early on.
  14. But he shines for the USMNT. The quality he gains by playing with Chelsea will carry over to international play.
  15. Eden Hazard finally goes to Real Madrid. Los Blancos need some talent. They’re the new Manchester United, a dysfunctional mess.
  16. And so does Neymar. Hey, they really really need some talent. And dysfunction.
  17. Jose Mourinho isn’t coaching by the end of the year. This is a good thing. He needs a break. And some Prozac.
  18. Sunderland find their way back up into the Championship.
  19. Leo Messi reclaims the Ballon d’Or. Some say he never should’ve lost it in the first place.
