2019-20 FA Cup Odds: Man City Favorites But You Know Tottenham Will Go All Out to Win This

Posted By High Press 10 on December 3, 2019

The 2019-20 FA Cup third round matches were announced on Monday. All matches are scheduled to take place on January 4th, 2020.

Somehow, amazingly, yet again, defending champs Manchester City pull about as kind of a match-up as you could possibly want. The FOURMIDABLES drew the 9th place team in England’s third division, Port Vale.

Other big six clubs weren’t so lucky:

  • Chelsea host Nottingham Forest (4th in Championship)
  • Wolves host Manchester United (9th in Premier League)
  • Arsenal host Leeds United (2nd in Championship)
  • Liverpool host Everton (17th in Premier League)

One big 6 club who did catch a break? Tottenham. They’ll face Championship relegation candidates Middlesbrough. Pay attention to Spurs in this competition. They’ll go all out to win it.

Why Tottenham should be FA Cup favorites with Man City

We’ll post the odds in the next section, but no real surprises. Manchester City are favorites at +300. Those odds could be -300 and nobody would blink. City celebrate winning FA Cups and Carabao Cups like it’s VE Day 1945.

Over the course of a few days, Tottenham have moved from the fourth best odds at +850 to the third best at +700. Even with shorter odds at +700, that’s strong value.

Spurs supporters and the organization in general are thirsty for a trophy. Jose Mourinho has a reputation to uphold as “the guy who wins trophies.” Management would point to a FA Cup win as justification for bouncing Pochettino. Mou will be rolling out his preferred starting XI against Middlesbrough and every opponent after them.

Other big six clubs may not be as motivated or have the depth here. Coming out of an utterly insane December schedule, Liverpool may just punt the FA Cup and play their u9 academy kids. Due to the transfer ban, Chelsea have depth issues and may be more focused on Champions and / or Europa League competitions. Leicester are certainly a contender, but their performances may vary depending on where they are in the domestic title chase.

FA Cup Odds

Here’s the winner odds for the 2019-20 FA Cup heading into the third round. Odds are as of December 3rd, 2019.

Man City +300Liverpool +600Tottenham +700 Chelsea +900
Manchester United +1100Arsenal +1400Leicester +1400Wolves +1600
Everton +1800West Ham +3300Newcastle +4000Bournemouth +5000
Crystal Palace +5000Watford +5000Aston Villa +6000Brighton +6000

Fulham +10000Leeds +10000Bristol +12500Derby +12500
Middlesbrough +12500Huddersfield +12500West Brom +12500Birmingham +15000

If you’re looking to bet the FA Cup, placing equal money wagers on City (+300), Spurs (+700), and a flier on Sheffield (+7000) is a fun and smart sweat. Sheffield at +7000 is one of the best values we’ve seen in any competition all season.
