The USMNT will compete in its first competition under coach Gregg Berhalter this summer at the CONCACAF Gold Cup from June 15th – July 7th.

At it, they’ll have a chance to avenge the most damaging loss in team history.

US lands in Group D

Berhalter’s squad drew Group D, which includes Guyana, Panama, and Trinidad & Tobago.

In October 2017, the US faced Trinidad & Tobago, needing a win or tie to advance to the 2018 World Cup. T&T were at the bottom of the regional qualifying table. You know what happened.

The loss shook US soccer to its core and is the reason why Berhalter has the job today.

The USMNT is the top team in the group, currently sitting 24th in FIFA’s global rankings. They’re followed by Panama (74), Trinidad & Tobago (93), and Guyana (175).
