High Press 10 August 12, 2019

What is the UEFA Super Cup?

The UEFA Super Cup pits the winner of the Champions League against the Europa League victors.

This year’s match features two Premier League squads: Liverpool and Chelsea. It takes place at Vodafone Park in Istanbul, Turkey.

When is the UEFA Super Cup?

The 2019 UEFA Super Cup is this Wednesday, August 14th at 3pm ET. The game is broadcast in the US on TNT and B/R Live.

UEFA Super Cup Odds

Odds updated on 08/14/19

After Liverpool’s dominate win over Norwich City on matchday 1 and Chelsea’s shellacking at the hands of Manchester United, the Reds are priced as favorites. Regular time odds are as follows:

Liverpool -157Draw +300Chelsea +430

Liverpool are also (obviously) viewed as favorites to win the trophy outright:

Liverpool -286Chelsea +220

After losing Alisson to a calf injury on matchday 1, it remains to be seen if Liverpool will trot out their best XI. Expect to see players like Xherdan Shaqiri, James Milner, and Divock Origi get the starting nod.

UEFA Super Cup Prop Bets

Some interesting prop best on DraftKings Sportsbook NJ for the UEFA Super Cup include:

Sadio Mane +360Mo Salah +360Roberto Firmino +500Divock Origi +525
Xherdan Shaqiri +550Rhian Brewster +550Tammy Abraham +750Michy Batshuayi +850
Olivier Giroud +900Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain +1000Adam Lallana +1000James Milner +1000
Pedro Rodríguez +1150Christian Pulisic +1200Naby Keita +1200Willian +1400

Oddsmakers clearly favor Liverpool on the props. They also appear to think Liverpool is running out a heavy B-team line-up (Adam Lallana has better first goal odds than Christian Pulisic).

Oddsmakers also view this as a low-scoring game. Total Goals props include:

  • Over 2.5 +200
  • Under 2.5 -275
  • Over 3.5 +550
  • Under 3.5 -910
  • Over 1.5 -175
  • Under 1.5 +132

Basically, expect a 2-0 Liverpool win.

2019-20 Bundesliga Title Odds

High Press 10 August 12, 2019

The 2019-20 Bundesliga season starts this Friday. Defending champs Bayern Munich host Hertha at 2:30pm ET on FS2, fuboTV and Hulu in the US. As expected, 2019-20 Bundesliga title odds heavily favor Bayern to win what would be their 8th straight domestic trophy this season.

Can anyone realistically challenge Bayern Munich this season? Oddsmakers don’t seem to think so. We do.

2019-20 Bundesliga Odds

Similar to the 2019-20 Premier League title odds, oddsmakers view this as a two-team race. In the EPL, it’s all about Liverpool and Manchester City. In the Bundesliga, it’s Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.

Yes, BVB lost Christian Pulisic this summer to Chelsea. However, BVB arguably had a better overall summer than Bayern. BVB have a certain prototype of player–one that excels at distribution on the attack.

They’ve brought Mats Hummels back and acquired Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt, Nico Schulz, and made Paco Alcaser (and his 18 goals from last season) permanent. Most importantly, they retained superstar Jadon Sancho for one more season.

BVB only fell 2 points shy of capturing the Bundesliga last season. This squad is deeper. Their +400 is currently more appealing than Liverpool’s +275 in the EPL. Expect a thrilling, down-to-the-wire title race.
