As the Premier League season zips past the halfway mark, Manchester City is starting to run away with the title.
However, oddsmakers see Bruno Fernandes as running away with the 2020-21 PFA Player of the Year award.
The Manchester United midfielder is a heavy +125 favorite. The second favorite is surprisingly someone with very little media buzz, City center-back Ruben Dias at +700.
Here’s a look at 2020-21 PFA Player of the Year favorites.
2020-21 PFA Player of the Year Odds
|Bruno Fernandes +125||Ruben Dias +700||Jack Grealish +800|
|Ilkay Gündogan +800||Harry Kane +800||Kevin de Bruyne +900|
|Mo Salah +1000||Phil Foden +2000||Son Heung-Min +2000|
|Marcus Rashford +4000||Raheem Sterling +4000||Jamie Vardy +4000|
Odds & Ends
- Fernandes is somewhat mispriced at +125. Man U is streaky. While they currently sit second in the table, is Fernandes still the favorite if they go cold again and finish 4th? Also, over half of Fernandes’ goals are from the spot or free-kicks. That’s not sustainable (actually, this is Man U, so maybe it is) for a full season.
- Dias as second. Huh. Ok. If City run away with the league again, it would make sense that a FOURMIDABLE wins the PFA award. Gundogan (+800) is having the season of his life and may make more sense. However…
- …watch out for Phil Foden. CITY HAVE NEVER LOST WITH FODEN IN THE LINE-UP is a media narrative you could hear more. And of City’s top guys, at +2000 he has the most value and upside.
