The 2020-21 Serie A season starts on September 19th, 2020. Italy’s top division has been dominated by Juventus the past decade. The Torin giants have won 9 straight titles. Will they make it 10 in a row?
Underlying data from the past season says it’s not a given.
Juve stumbled after the restart, edging Inter Milan by a single point this campaign. However, xG / xGA suggests that Juve was fortunate to win their 9th straight. Atalanta had the best xPTs in Italy (76.01) followed by Inter (75.38) then Juventus (71.24). Ronaldo and co. outperformed expectations by nearly 12 points.
As Ronaldo ages and with no major squad additions to date other than Arthur, new manager Andrea Pirlo has his work cut out in making it 10 straight. Here’s a look at 2020-21 Serie A title odds.

Odds & Ends
- Having won the past 9 titles, Juventus at just -143 is surprising. The regression could be real. This squad has too many key contributors on the wrong side of their prime.
- Inter at +200 is solid value. They’re spending. They’re ambitious. Conte is due to break-through.
- If you’re looking for value though, Atalanta (+1100) is where it’s at. They were the best team in Italy after the restart. The squad appears to be staying intact and have most of their key contributors in their right prime years.
