Editor’s Note: During the Women’s World Cup we offered suggestions for good value picks on DraftKings. We’re going to give it a trial run now with the Premier League.
Well, that was a good start. Our first iteration on Wednesday, December 4 saw Premier League picks Jamie Vardy, Danny Ings, Teemu Pukki, James Maddison, and Richarlison all tally goals (five of our six attacking players). Today’s edition is for DraftKings contests on Saturday, December 7th. All Saturday games are included except for the 7:30am ET contest between Everton & Chelsea.
Important Note: Make sure you check manager selections an hour before all contests. This is a heavy rotation period for all squads. Don’t let your line-up get megged.
DraftKings DFS Picks for December 7th
Mo Salah ($9,800) – Salah has scored in all four of his matches against Bournemouth since coming to Liverpool. He had four against the Cherries last year (including a hat-trick in their December away match). He’s rested and may have something to prove given how well Sadio Mane looked without him on Wednesday.
Raheem Sterling ($9,900) or Gabriel Jesus ($9,000) – As always with City, make sure Pep hasn’t rotated one of them out. Regardless, one of them is going to score against Manchester United, probably both. Jesus is the better dollar value play. With Sergio Aguero out, he’s getting more run. He tallied two goals and 26 fantasy points in the mid-week match vs Burnley. He’ll be brimming with confidence coming into this one.
Marcus Rashford ($6,800) – Speaking of brimming with confidence…Rashford had one of his best games of the season on Wednesday vs Tottenham. City’s defense is leaky. While we expect a City blowout, somebody from United is going to put one in. Martial is unlikely to start, so Rashford is the best candidate to find the net. At $6,800, he’s a good value too.
Ashley Barnes ($5,100) – Barnes is mostly rested, having come off the bench mid-week vs City. Jose Mouriho hasn’t cleaned up Spurs’ defensive issues yet. Tottenham have conceded the 7th most goals in the EPL (23). Barnes is a good value play.
Kevin de Bruyne ($10,600) – Not exactly going out on a limb here. However, over his last 10 matches, any time he’s tallied less than 15 fantasy points, the following match he’s averaged 30.5. He had less than 15 points his last match. And get taken off early. If he starts, he’s going to light up the stat sheet.
Dele Alli ($8,200) – Is there anyone hotter right now that Alli? This is a good match-up against a Burnley side that’s conceded the 6th most goals in the Premier League (24). He’s in-form af, averaging 17.6 FPP over his last 5 contests.
Ryan Fraser ($6,500) – This is more of a gut call than anything. Yes, Liverpool aren’t keeping clean sheet. Harry Wilson can’t play this match due to terms of his loan agreement. Someone from Bournemouth will likely put one in. Fraser has been linked to a January move to Liverpool. No better way to impress an interested club than with a strong December performance. He also should be rested, having come off the bench mid-week.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ($6,500) – All in on Liverpool this match. Ox rested mid-week and has been very much in-form when playing.
Serge Aurier ($5,900) – Four games in a row with over 10 FPP, Aurier is another Spur responding well to Mourinho.
Whichever of Liverpool’s wing-back start: As we wrote in our Bournemouth vs Liverpool preview, Liverpool are going to score this match. And we expect one of Trent Alexander-Arnold ($7,300) or Andy Robertson ($5,500) to rest. Whoever does start will likely lead the Reds is touches and crosses. If Robertson gets the start, he’s a must-have given his price and likelihood of an assist.
LIVERPOOL DON’T KEEP CLEAN SHEETS. Maybe you’ve heard? But…that’s gotta change sometime soon, right? Alisson at $5,500 is a decent price considering the upside. If you’re out of budget, then Vincente Guaita ($4,500) of Crystal Palace is as good as you’ll be able to do. He’s got 2 clean sheets in his last 2 matches and faces Watford and their league-worst 9 (!!!) goals.
Low Cost Lottery Tickets
These are players priced under $5,000 who could help fill out a roster.
- Scott McTominay ($4,300) – Prior to his fantasy no-show vs Tottenham, McTominay had been a stand-out performer. He earned 17 FPP over his 3 contests before Spurs. He’ll be an active contributor to United offensive and defensive efforts vs City.
- Jeffrey Schlupp ($4,300) – Monitor if he gets the start for Crystal Palace. It’s a good match-up vs Watford and Schlupp is running hot. He’s scored in his last two matches, earning 15.7 and 12.1 points.
- Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld ($4,100) – Have you heard that Liverpool aren’t keeping clean sheets? With Harry Wilson out of the line-up, ADG may get some extra run. While he hasn’t registered a goal yet, he’s getting shots and crosses off.
- Joe Gomez ($3,400) – Gomez hasn’t earned a domestic league start since the opener vs Norwich. That should change this weekend. If he gets the nod in place of TAA, his price tag and potential for crosses and an assist makes him a no-brainer line-up selection.
