Best Premier League DraftKings Daily Fantasy Picks for Matchday 18 (December 21st 2019)

Posted By High Press 10 on December 19, 2019 - Last Updated on December 21, 2019

UPDATE: This post has been updated to reflect recent injury news.

Saturday’s batch of Premier League matches is really just about one game and one game only: Manchester City vs Leicester. Aside from being the match that will play a big role in determining who will finish in second place behind Liverpool this season, it has the most potential for quality fantasy production.

Unfortunately, DraftKings’ major contests do not include that match on Saturday (it’s at 12:30pm, which isn’t always an issue). Keep in mind that DraftKings also does not include the 7:30am match between Everton & Arsenal. Get the reasoning on that. But seriously DraftKings, you don’t include the most high profile game of the weekend–at 12:30pm ET–that has the most potential for offense? Dafuq. Cue music.

Anyway…check the starting XI’s an hour before game time. December brings heavier rotation than most months.

DraftKings DFS Picks for December 21st

Forwards

Raul Jimenez ($9,000) –The closest thing to a surefire selection on the slate. First, he’s playing Norwich. The Canaries have conceded the most goals in the EPL and have the highest xGA. Jimenez is in good form. He hasn’t tallied less than 8.7 FPP in his last 10 matches. He also hasn’t scored a goal over his last 4 matches. But he’s generating shots. So if that goalless drought is going to end–Norwich is as good a bet as any.

Adama Traore ($8,800) – The big man is in great form as well. He’s only tallied less than 10 FPP in one of his last 10 matches. His shooting is spotty, but he fills up the stat sheet across the board.

Danny Ings ($7,300) – Ingsy laid a giant turd for 2.7 fantasy points against West Ham. Look for a rebound. Aston Villa is porous defensively, giving up 30 goals to 32.9 xGA (second worst in EPL). It’s a good match-up.

Joshua King ($6,400) – Might be the only healthy forward for Burnley and will see plenty of opportunities. So if you need somebody to pair with Jimenez to save some money, King is your man.

Dominic Solanke ($5,000) – With King likely out, Solanke is a low cost fill in option if you ‘ve spent heavily on other attacking players. He hasn’t been too effective this year, but this is about opportunity and cost.

Midfielders

James Ward-Prowse ($7,500) – Averaging 18.2 FPP over his last 5 matches. Gets a good match-up against AVL.

Sean Longstaff ($5,400) – Check Newcastle’s starting XI an hour before matchtime. If Jonjo Shelvey is on the bench or out again, Longstaff did well in his absence last week (12.4 points).

Oliver Norwood ($5,200) – Gut call here. But one of our top picks last week (John Fleck, 26.1 points) is out this week. Norwood is a good candidate for a more prominent role in Sheffield’s attack.

Defenders

Matt Doherty ($5,000) – Should fill up the stat sheet against a Norwich side that will give him opportunities for interceptions, tackles (though not his strong suit) and crosses.

Edna Stevens ($4,500) – Three games in a row with over 10 FPPs yet went down $500 in price from last week. The Sheffield man should have plenty opportunities to earn points on crosses against Brighton.

Goalkeepers

Recommending Martin Dubravka ($5,200) again though his price has now shot up $800 from last week. He’s got good clean sheet potential. If you need to save money, Norwich’s Tim Krul ($4,300) is statistically the best gk in the EPL (per WhoScored) and is earning plenty of points for saves made. The danger with him in this match is Norwich is unlikely to win. If you’re looking to split the difference, Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale ($4,900) is coming off a monster performance vs Chelsea (20.2 points) and has four clean sheets in his last 10 matches. Nick Pope ($4,500) is another option. Bournemouth is banged up and lacks attacking options.

Low Cost Lottery Tickets

These are players priced under $5,000 who could help fill out a roster. Not a lot of options that really stand out this week, except for one:

  • Ruben Neves ($4,200) – This is about opportunity and match-up. Neves tallied 17.6 points against similarly defensively-challenged Aston Villa in November. He’s going to get opportunities vs Norwich and if you need a low cost flier, he’s your best bet.
