Out: Emre Can (Thigh), Thorgan Hazard (Ankle), Gio Reyna (Thigh), Soumaila Coulibaly (Knee), Mateu Morey (Knee), Marcel Schmelzer (Knee), Steffen Tigges (Thigh)
Doubtful: Nico Schulz (Thigh), Dan-Axel Zagadou (Knee)
Suspended: None
Coach: Marco Rose

I think Marco Rose will revert to the starting lineup and formation that beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-3 last weekend. They played some brilliant football at times, especially in the second half when they wrestled back control in the center of the pitch, and he will want to build on that.

We will see one change with Mats Hummels starting in central defense in place of Marin Pongračić. Nico Schulz and Dan-Axel Zagadou could make the bench as they near return from injury. Emre Can, Thorgan Hazard, and Gio Reyna remain on the sidelines.

Bundesliga Betting: Borussia Dortmund vs FC Union Berlin Match Preview

Out: None
Doubtful: Kevin Möhwald (Thigh)

Coach: Urs Fischer

Dortmund away is a massive fixture, and I think Urs Fischer will pick his strongest side despite this being the third game in eight days for some of his players. Timo Baumgartl and Niko Giesselmann were both rested for the game against Besiktas on Thursday night and should return to the starting lineup.

Forward Taiwo Awoniyi provides Union’s biggest threat going forward with his pace and finishing. The 24-year-old Nigerian is their highest goalscorer with three after he notched in the season’s first three games.

Kevin Möhwald is the only doubt after he picked up a thigh muscle problem in Matchday 04.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND VS FC UNION BERLIN BUNDESLIGA BETTING TIPS

European club football returned this week, and both these sides played. In my Bundesliga Matchday 05 Lines and Tips post, I talked about the importance of paying attention to each side’s lineups for the midweek games, how much distance they’ve had to travel, how many days rest they’ve had, and how those games played out.

BVB traveled to Turkey on Wednesday for their opening Champions League game. They beat Besiktas 2-1 and have had an extra day to recover and prepare for this game. Union traveled to the Czech Republic on Thursday in the Europa Conference League and lost 3-1 to Slavia Prague.

I thought Urs Fischer would play a strong side, and he did, making just three changes to the side which drew against FC Augsburg last Saturday. This is important because Paul Jäckal was sent off in the 39th minute after picking up his second yellow card, meaning Union played 51 minutes plus injury time with 10 men.

In the second half, they only saw 23% of the ball, meaning they spent most of the game on the back foot, defending and trying to win back possession. For anyone who’s played soccer at any level, they’ll know how tiring the game can be when you don’t have the ball.

Taking all of that into consideration, Dortmund looks certain to win this game. Their Moneyline is -265, which isn’t the best value, so I recommend Parlaying them to win with another outcome.

Dortmund to Win and Both Teams To Score YES at +135 is appealing because they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last five fixtures. With Union fatigued and their main playmaker Max Kruse 33 years old now, I think that’s a risk.

The safer choice is Dortmund to Win and Over 2.5 Goals at -120. BVB’s last five games have all finished with 3 goals or more.
