Bundesliga Betting: Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Borussia Dortmund Match Preview

Out: Marcus Thuram (Knee), Stefan Lainer (Ankle), Mamadou Doucouré (Achilles’ Tendon)
Doubtful: Ramy Bensebaini (Groin)
Suspended: None
Coach: Adi Hütter

Gladbach’s poor form in the second half of last season was put down to Marco Rose’s decision to join Dortmund but it looks like the problems run a little deeper. Adi Hütter‘s had a tough start to life at Borussia-Park collecting just 4 points from their first five matches and performances have been inconsistent.

Hütter has been without his best forward Marcus Thuram who is recovering from a knee injury he picked up in Matchday 02 against Bayer Leverkusen. Right-back Stefan Lainer broke his ankle in the same game and will be out for the foreseeable future. The clubs’ other experienced full-back Ramy Bensebaini is also a doubt for this game with a groin injury.

That means 18-year-old American Joseph Scally and 21-year-old Jordan Beyer will start as the full-backs and I’m not convinced they’re good enough yet to stop this Dortmund attack. Christoph Kramer could be recalled to central midfield ahead of Denis Zakaria.

Out: Emre Can (Thigh), Gio Reyna (Thigh), Soumaila Coulibaly (Knee), Mateu Morey (Knee), Marcel Schmelzer (Knee), Steffen Tigges (Thigh), Julian Brandt (Muscular), Dan-Axel Zagadou (Knee)
Doubtful: Nico Schulz (Thigh)
Suspended: None
Coach: Marco Rose

Marco Rose will go with the same starting lineup that beat FC Union Berlin 4-2 in Matchday 05. That result stretched Dortmund’s winning streak to four matches and he will want to keep the momentum going for as long as possible.

18-year-old Jude Bellingham has been in brilliant form this season and is fast becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet. It’s scary to see a player at such a young age be so commanding in central midfield. Dortmund’s policy is to sell one star player each summer so with Erling Haaland leaving at the end of this season he will be at Signal Iduna Park till summer 2023 at the very least.

Nico Schulz could make the bench as he nears a return from injury. Julian Brandt joins Emre Can, Thorgan Hazard, Gio Reyna, and Dan-Axel Zagadou on the sidelines.

Dortmund are in brilliant form and I can’t see beyond them winning this game. I mentioned above Gladbach are weak at full-back and I think BVB will find joy down the flanks. Looking at their recent results it’s tempting to Parlay them getting the 3 points with Both Teams To Score or Over 2.5 or 3.5 Goals.

I recommend avoiding that for this game after Mats Hummels recent admission about the teams’ mentality.

His comments could galvanize the side and earn them their second clean sheet of the season. They could have no effect whatsoever and BVB will continue to concede goals and win games by outscoring the opposition. Either way, I recommend playing this game safely.

Back Dortmund on the Moneyline.
