Matchday 12 is our first “Die Englische Wocke” of the season.
As we approach the winter break it’s getting tight at the top. Bayern Munich & Borussia Dortmund dropped points again. Bayer Leverkusen can go first if they beat Hoffenheim in Sunday’s late game.

Dortmund have released Lucian Favre in response to VFB Stuttgart’s 5-1 mauling.
Mats Hummels slammed Favre’s tactics after the game “We always try to play small and small through narrow spaces and have a huge ball-loss rate. If it works, it looks like nice football. But it rarely does. That requires too much skill.”
The names linked to takeover are:
- Jesse Marsch of Red Bull Salzburg.
- Ralph Hasenhüttl of Southampton.
- Marco Rose of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
- Mauricio Pochettino
We would all love to see what Poch can do in the Bundesliga with this talented young squad. His attacking, free flowing philosophy & ability to bring talented youngsters through a club’s academy would make him the perfect fit. With pressure mounting on Ole Gunnar Solksjaer & Zinedine Zidane, I think he holds out for one of those elite clubs.
Hasenhüttl doesn’t come across as someone who would walk away from Southampton halfway through the season. The same goes for Rose who has just taken Gladbach to the Knockout Stages of the Champions League. American Marsch is a stronger possibility & has proven at Salzburg he can get the best out of talented youngsters.
There was talk of Dortmund replacing Favre in the summer but the club held off as none of their top targets were available. I think we’ll see someone come in on a temporary basis. BVB will wait till the summer to get the right person in.

It’s another transfer coup for the Bundesliga. Reports emerged on Friday that one of Europe’s biggest talents, Dominik Szoboszla has chosen to move to RB Leipzig in the January transfer window.
Szoboszlai is close to join RB Leipzig, confirmed! Three clubs contacted Salzburg to sign him – Arsenal and AC Milan included. Leipzig are leading the race and trying to complete the agreement on next week.
