Bundesliga January Transfer Tracker, News and Rumors 2021

Written By Alex Blowers on January 5, 2022 - Last Updated on January 10, 2022

The January Transfer Window is open, and it’s likely we’ve already seen the biggest deal go through.

USMNT rising star Ricardo Pepi has joined FC Augsburg in a surprise $18 million deal, making him the club’s record transfer signing. The relegation-threatened club have been struggling for goals and will be hoping Pepi can fire them to safety.

German clubs are known for doing the majority of their business in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if any of the other 17 other clubs break the bank like Augsburg. I will continue to update this page throughout the month with all the latest Bundesliga January Transfer stories

BUNDESLIGA JANUARY TRANSFER RUMORS

ATLÉTICO MADRID LINKED WITH NORDI MUKIELE

40% chance of happening

Kieran Trippier‘s move to Newcastle has left Atlético Madrid searching for a replacement. Recent reports suggest RB Leipzig‘s versatile defender Nordi Mukiele is top of their list. The 24-year-old is capable of playing right-back, right wing-back, and center-back and would be a great addition to Diego Simeone‘s squad.

Atléti have the funds but it’s difficult to see them pulling this move off in January. German clubs tend to conduct the majority of their business in the summer and I think that’s when we’ll see this transfer happen.

BAYERN MUNICH SET TO SAVE DONNY VAN DE BEEK FROM HIS OLD TRAFFORD NIGHTMARE

25% chance of happening

Recent reports have linked Manchester United misfit Donny van de Beek with a move to Bayern Munich. The club and Julian Nagelsmann see the Dutch midfielder as the perfect replacement for Corentin Tolisso, whose deal runs out at the end of the season and is attracting interest from Real Madrid.

I think this could happen as a loan deal. Bayern are a bit light in midfield, and van de Beek must be desperate to leave United after being shunned again by new manager Ralf Rangnick. If it’s going to be a permanent deal, we will see it happen in the summer.

BORUSSIA MÖNCHENGLADBACH COULD CASH IN ON MATTHIAS GINTER AND DENIS ZAKARIA IN JANUARY

80% chance of happening

Borussia Mönchengladbach pair Denis Zakaria and Matthias Ginter have announced their intention to leave in the summer when their contracts expire. The club thought if they could qualify for Europe this season, they would be able to convince the pair to sign new contracts.

Life under Adi Hütter hasn’t gone to plan with Gladbach closer to the relegation zone than the European qualification spots. The club can’t afford to let these players leave for free in the summer, and we will see them go if a club is willing to stump up an acceptable fee.

I think we will see both leave with the Premier League as the most likely destination. Ginter is a solid center-back, and Zakaria is a quality versatile midfielder who has the potential to be a real force in the game.
