Bundesliga Match Week 28 Betting Tips: Title Decider in “Die Englische Woche”

Posted By Alex Blowers on May 25, 2020

A full schedule of midweek Bundesliga fixtures is a rare occasion. So much so that in Germany it’s known as “Die Englische Wocke,” which translates to “The English Week,” where they are the norm.

The highlight of Bundesliga Matchweek 28 is one of the biggest fixtures in world football: Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich. If you haven’t already, read our Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich betting preview.

A Dortmund win will close the gap to a point, setting up a tense and thrilling title race across the final six games. If Bayern win, they’ll go 7 points clear & should see out a comfortable end to the season collecting their 8th consecutive title.

Here are two other matches this week to watch.

On Saturday, a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Jirí Pavlenka and a 90th minute VAR offside ruling secured Bremen’s first Bundesliga win since January 18th.

Gladbach weren’t as fortunate, losing 3-1 to Bayer Leverkusen and dropping down to 5th out of the Champions League places. The only positive from the game was Alassane Plea playing a lovely chipped through ball for Marcus Thuram to smash home.

This season Bremen have won once at home, way back on September 1st. Gladbach have done well on the road, with 7 wins, 3 draws & 4 losses.

If you need any more convincing to back Gladbach, the last time they failed to beat Bremen away in the Bundesliga was in the 2013/14 season.

Prediction – Gladbach on the Money Line at -122 is too good to miss.

Both had miserable weekends, nearly made worse by Fortuna Dusseldorf winning. Luckily for them FC Köln rallied in the final minutes to draw 2-2. With Union 6 points & Mainz 3 point clear of the relegation zone, a win for both will do wonders for their survival hopes.

Union are coming off a second half capitulation against city rivals Hertha Berlin. They surrendered 3 goals in 10 minutes & lost 4-0. Since the restart they’ve failed to score & registered just 2 shots on target. Top scorer Sebastian Andersson has 11 goals. However, he has scored just 3 since the return from the winter break. Union will be hoping he can rediscover his early season form.

Mainz were played off the park by a rampant RB Leipzig side losing 5-0. In the opening fixture of the restart, they fared much better drawing 2-2 with Köln after going 2-0 down. Since the restart we’ve had 10 away wins across the 18 fixtures & at +205 there’s definite value here.

Prediction – Mainz on the Money Line at +205

Wins: 4
Losses: 2
Units: +2.49
