Bundesliga Matchday 01 Betting Tips: Saison Offner

Posted By Alex Blowers on September 16, 2020

The Bundesliga is back this weekend & here are my first Betting Tips for the season. If you haven’t already be sure to read my Bundesliga Season Betting Plan where I’ve given some solid Futures Bets (We’ll see in May lol) that you still have time to place.

There’s also my Bundesliga Season Preview where I give my take on who can challenge Bayern, Champions League & Europa League qualification, the fight for survival & the kits I love & hate.

Have a listen to the latest High Press Soccer Podcast. Chops & Tyler review the opening round of games in the Premier League, La Liga & a look ahead to the Bundesliga season kicking off this weekend.

Dortmund ran out comfortable 5-0 winners in the DFB-POKAL & new signing Jude Bellingham took 30 minutes to open his account. It’s looking increasingly likely that Jadon Sancho will be staying for one more season & he’s the integral part of their title challenge. I think he’ll improve on the 17 goals & 16 assists he got last season & he’s my shout for Player of the Season. I like the experience & mentality Emre Can & Thomas Meunier bring, it’s definitely what this young squad needs.

Gladbach pipped Bayer Leverkusen to 4th place last season & it was a massive achievement. They have Champions League football to enjoy this year & will be hoping Alassane Pléa & Marcus Thuram can build on their partnership. In their last 11 meetings Dortmund have won all of them & you can look at this two ways. BVB are the better side or Gladbach are due a win. I’m leaning towards Dortmund being stronger & they’ll start the season with a home win.

Prediction – 1 Unit: Borussia Dortmund ML -157

Mainz haven’t really strengthened this summer with defenders Luca Kilian & Dimitri Lavalée their only signings. They finished last season in 13th, were the 6th lowest scorers & conceded the 5th most amount of goals. It’s looking like a difficult season ahead & it starts with a tough trip to the Red Bull Arena.

Even without Timo Werner & Patrick Schick, Leipzig are still the 3rd best team in the league. There’s big hopes new signing Hee-Chan Hwang can fill the void & he got off to a great start on his debut scoring against FC Nürnberg. With Christopher Nkunku, Marcel Sabitzer & Dani Olmo behind him, I don’t think he’ll be far off the 11 goals & 13 assists he got for Red Bull Salzburg last season.

This will be a comfortable win for Leipzig & the margin will be by at least 2 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: RB Leipzig -1.5 Goals -105

FC Köln weren’t far off relegation last season & have just sold Jhon Cordoba to Hertha Berlin. The Colombian was their top scorer with 13 goals & is a physical, pacey striker. Within hours the Billy Goats announced Sebastian Andersson as his replacement. The Swede scored 12 times for FC Union Berlin last season & at 6’3″, is more of a target man with 7 of his goals coming from his head. These two are completely different players & I think it will take a few games for Köln to adjust to the new playing style.

Hoffenheim have handed the reigns over to another young, exciting German manager. Sebastian Hoenab took Bayern Munich Reserves to the 3.Liga title last season & was named Manager of the Season. His philosophy is all about playing exciting football & defending high which could limit chances for Köln’s new target man. Star striker Andrej Kramarić scored a brace in their DFB-POKAL match against Chemnitzer FC & all signs point to him being back to his goalscoring best.

This line is way off & I highlighted it in my Betting Lines post a few days ago. Hoffenheim finished 6th last season & Köln 14th so it should be all 3 points for the away side. Jump on this quick, the Line has already dropped from +175 to +160.

Prediction- 2 Units: Hoffenheim ML +160

In my Bundesliga Season Betting Plan I explained I’ll be backing Bayern to win Half Time/Full Time every week. My reasoning behind this is that since the Bundesliga resumed on May 16th, Bayern played 15 games across all competitions. If you backed them to win Half time/Full time you would have cashed 13 of them & the odds for this is always more valuable than the Money Line. The only variant each week is the amount of Units I place.

Die Roten are the Champions of Europe & up against a Schalke side on the opposite side of the spectrum. Die Knappen last tasted victory in the Bundesliga 16 games ago. Leroy Sane is expected to make his debut against his former club & I’m confident he’ll mark the occasion with a goal. Bayern willl start the season with a convincing win at the Allianz Arena.

Prediction – 2 Units: Bayern Half Time/Full Time -250
