Bundesliga Matchday 07 Betting Tips: Bottom Two Face Off

Matchday 06 was another profitable weekend with 3 of my 4 bets cashing. If you’re following my bet recommendations hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks

I got off to a great start in Friday evenings game with Schalke 04 vs VFB Stuttgart finishing Under 2.5 Goals at 1-1. Bayern Munich Half Time / Full Time cashed again for the 5th time & it was my first 3 Unit play of the season.

Borussia Dortmund dominated Arminia Bielefeld who started with a back five & showed minimal interest in attacking BVB’s goal. Mats Hummels scored a brace in the second half for Dortmund -1.5 goals to hit.

My Borussia Mönchengladbach vs RB Leipzig Over 3.5 Goals play ended up being way off as the home side came out on top 1-0. There were chances in this game with Yann Sommer making some big saves & Alassane Pléa crashing an effort off the woodwork.

Schalke earned their second point of the season with a spirited display against Stuttgart & it will give them confidence going into this bottom of the table clash. Michael Baum’s switch to a back three has really improved them defensively & it has given his side a foundation to build on.

Mainz 05 sit at the bottom with 0 points after losing all 6 matches so far. The inexperienced Jan Moritz Lichte has been in the managerial hot seat for the same amount of games as Baum. We aren’t seeing the same signs of improvement. They’ve leaked 17 goals & have taken the lead twice this season but failed to even hold on for a draw.

Schalke have conceded 20 goals so far but 15 of those are from away games at Bayern, Dortmund & Leipzig. That’s a brutal opening schedule for any team & it could be a blessing in disguise to get those trips out of the way so early on. Their performances against the weaker sides are improving & there’s signs Baum could save Schalke from relegation.

I’m backing Die Knappen to get something from a game for the first time this season.

Prediction: 2 Units – Schalke or the Draw -155

Hertha Berlin ended a four game losing streak with their draw at home to Wolfsburg. It’s been a poor start to the season for Bruno Labbadia’s side, who a lot of people, including me believed would break into the Top 6 this season. They’re currently sitting in 14th with 4 points but they still have plenty of games left to climb the table.

Ironically it’s this weeks opponents FC Augsburg who sit in 6th. It’s been a surprisingly strong start for Heiko Herrlich’s side but I don’t see them finishing anywhere near the top end of the table come the end of the season. Prior to André Hahn’s brace on Saturday, all of their 7 goals have come from players in midfield & defense. Hahn, who’s normally deployed on the right started this game up front & could be the solution for their striker issues.

Labbadia doesn’t have the same issue with marquee summer signing Jhon Córdoba finding the back of the net 3 times this season. The Colombian has the creative & dynamic Dodi Lukebakio, Vladimír Darida & Matheus Cunha behind him & it’s only a matter of time before these four fully click.

I’m backing them to do it in this game.

Prediction: 1 Unit – Hertha Berlin Money Line +145

The international break back in early October really disrupted Eintracht Frankfurt’s rhythm. They went into it unbeaten with two massive victories over Hertha Berlin & Hoffenheim; two of their biggest rivals for the Top 6. Since the Bundesliga resumed they lost 5-0 to Bayern & have been held to 1-1 draws by FC Köln & Werder Bremen.

Newly promoted VFB Stuttgart have proven to be a difficult side to beat since losing on the opening day of the season. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are unbeaten since that 3-2 loss at home to SC Freiburg with two wins & three draws. Their last two games have been 1-1 draws with FC Köln & Schalke 04.

Looking at both sides recent results this game has a 1-1 draw written all over it. The Sports Books are finding it difficult to identify a favorite as well & are offering +160 on both sides to win.

Frankfurt’s front three of André Silva, Bas Dost & Daichi Kamada have combined together, scored or assisted in all 8 of their Bundesliga goals this season. I really like Adi Hütter’s side to get something from this game & I think they have the edge over the home side to take all 3 points.

Prediction: 2 Units – Eintracht Frankfurt & the Draw -195
