Bundesliga Matchday 08 Betting Tips

Three of my 4 Matchday 07 picks cashed for 2.76 Units of profit. If you’re following my bet recommendations hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks I want to know who you are.

My only loss of the week was Borussia Dortmund on the Money Line in Der Klassiker. They had the chances to take all 3 points but came up short once again to Bayern Munich.

Hertha Berlin ran out convincing 3-0 winners away to FC Augsburg. Krzysztof Piatek, Matheus Cunha & Dodi Lukebakio all got on the scoresheet. Piatek replaced Jhon Córdoba at halftime & the Colombian looks to be out for the rest of 2020 with an ankle injury.

Eintracht Frankfurt rallied in the second half to come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in their match against VFB Stuttgart with André Silva getting on the score sheet again.. Schalke 04 earned a point away to bottom of the table Mainz 05 with Mark Uth scoring a lovely free kick.

Check out my post from earlier in the week for the full MD08 fixture list & Betting Lines.

Sebastian Andersson faces his former club & his impact is remarkable when we look at each sides goals per game average this season & last.

Last season FC Union Berlin managed to score just 41 goals (1.2 goals a game average). This season they have scored 16 goals in seven games, elevating their average to 2.28 goals a game. FC Köln scored 51 goals last season (1.5 goals a game) & this season they’ve scored 7 dropping their average to 1 goal a game.

Andersson is a 6’3″ target man who is great in the air & holding the ball up, but rarely gets in behind. He is very reliant on service & rarely creates anything for himself or others with 1 assist last season & none this year.

Union are exceeding expectations sitting up in 5th & a lot of that is due to the creativity of veteran forward Max Kruse. The former German international has been running riot in recent games with 3 goals & 5 assists so far & early indications are that he will be their player of the season.

Andersson will want to show his former club what he’s capable of but Urs Fischer knows the Swede’s limitations. He’ll have a tactical plan in place to limit service to his former goal scorer. Union are flying right now & they’re more than capable of winning this game by 2 goals or more.

Prediction – 2 Units: FC Union Berlin -1 Goal +360

Wolfsburg are one of two sides who are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga but are only on 11 points. Oliver Glasner’s side has tied five of their seven fixtures & they’re lucky it’s not six after Koen Casteels saved a 94th minute penalty in Matchday 07 to ensure they got the 3 points.

The manner in which they beat Hoffenheim is a great lift for Oliver Glasner’s side & it will really help them get over the disappointment of failing to make it to the Europe League. They lost to AEK Athens in the final qualifying round in late September & it’s definitely effected performances since.

Schalke are showing signs of improvement with three draws in their last four matches but Wolfsburg are a much better, rounded off side than those three opponents. I don’t see Michael Baum’s side getting anything from this game & the key to their survival is beating the clubs around them at the bottom end of the Bundesliga.

Prediction – 2 Units: Wolfsburg Money Line +100

Bayern are sitting 2 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga & are on a ten game winning streak across all competitions. Joshua Kimmich’s knee injury rules him out till January & he will be a big loss. Corentin Tolisso has shown this season he’s very capable of deputizing & the French international will work well with Leon Goretzka.

Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry, Niklas Süle, Manual Neuer & Goretzka  all started in Germany’s embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Spain. All of these players will want to put the result behind them ASAP & we’ll see a big reaction from them on Saturday. This will end up being a painful trip to the Allianz Arena for Werder Bremen.

Prediction – 2 Units: Bayern Half Time/Full Time -265
