Bundesliga Matchday 09 Betting Tips

There were some stunning finishes in Matchday 08 in the Bundesliga. My personal favorite is Yussuf Poulsen’s deft flick. The Danish international won October’s Goal of the Month & he could win the award two months in a row with his equalizer against Eintracht Frankfurt.

I broke even on Matchday 08 with a win, a loss & a push. Wolfsburg’s recent games have featured early goals & Wout Weghorst put them ahead after 3 minutes. He then turned provider as his heavy touch fell kindly into the path of Xaver Schlager who scored on the 24th minute to record a comfortable 2-0 win over Schalke.

FC Union Berlin -1 Goals pushed as they only managed to turn their dominance into a 2-1 win over FC Köln. Max Kruse failed to take his chance to make Bundesliga history. The veteran forward missed his first ever penalty but converted the rebound. He could have been the first player in the league’s history to score 17 out of 17 spot-kicks.

Bayern Munich were held to a 1-1 draw after Hansi Flick’s gamble to rest Leon Goretzka, Niclas Süle, Serge Gnabry & Leroy Sané failed to pay off. Werder Bremen countered well & Josh Sargent provided the assist for Maximilian Eggestein’s opener. The USMNT’s player should have scored the winner in the dying minutes when he raced through one on one. A poor first touch narrowed the angle & Manual Neuer denied him at the near post.

Erling Haaland wasn’t the only player to score a “Lupenreiner Hattrick“. For those of you new to the Bundesliga it’s when a player scores 3 goals in 1 half uninterrupted by any other scoring. Jean-Philippe Mateta scored his in the first half of Mainz 05’s 3-1 victory over SC Freiburg, lifting them off the bottom of the league.

Andrij Kramarić showed Hoffenheim what they’ve been missing with a goal & an assist in their 3-3 draw with VFB Stuttgart. The Croatian international has missed the previous four Bundesliga games with an abductor injury & it has had a dramatic effect on his sides form. They have struggled with a draw & three losses & managed to score just 3 in the games he’s missed compared to 11 in the four games he’s played.

Kramarić has scored has scored in all four Bundesliga games he’s played in this season with 7 in total & is the third best striker in the league. With him back in the starting lineup, they should easily return to winning ways against a Mainz side who have conceded 21 goals.

Prediction – 3 Units: Hoffenheim Money Line +110

FC Augsburg rode their luck but showed great resolve to draw 1-1 away to Borussia Mönchengladbach. It’s even more impressive that they did it after playing a quarter of the game with 10 men. Raphael Framberger was sent off in the 66th minute for his second yellow card in the space of 4 minutes.

SC Freiburg have been very poor with 1 win, 3 draws & 4 losses. They’ve conceded 19 so far & 10 of those have come in their last 3 games. They finished 8th last season & just missed out on the Europa League by a point but this year is looking like a relegation battle is on the cards.

Augsburg have produced some great performances with their 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund the most memorable. They have a strong chance of getting the win in this game & +140 is great value.

Prediction – 1 Unit: FC Augsburg Money Line +140

Before the international break, Schalke had shown signs of surviving with a couple of draws, improvements in defense & moved off the bottom of the table. After Mainz’s win they’re back to propping up the table & further chaos has ensued. On Tuesday they confirmed the sacking of their Technical Director Michael Reschke, Nabil Bentaleb & Amine Harit are training separately until further notice & Vedad Ibisevic’s contract will end December 31st 2020.

Harit was subbed in the 38th minute of their defeat to Wolfsburg & snubbed Michael Baum as he left the pitch. Bentaleb will leave the club “by summer 2021 at the latest” & on the same day of the player’s 26th birthday, the clubs Twitter account deleted a birthday message it sent out earlier in the day.

Ibisevic is essentially playing for the club for free. He clashed with assistant coach Naldo during a training session for the reserves following Saturday’s defeat. Schalke claimed the termination of his contract had nothing to do with the incident.

Schalke are in crisis on every level & have put up very little resistance against Germany’s top clubs with 15 goals conceded against Bayern, Dortmund & RB Leipzig. Borussia Mönchengladbach will win this game comfortably by 2 or 3 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: Borussia Mönchengladbach -1.5 Goals +100

It’s good news on the injury front with Niklas Süle & Lucas Hernández available to start & Alphonso Davies on schedule to return January 3rd. Bayern were crowned winners of their Champions League group after beating Red Bull Salzburg 3-1.

Most importantly, they have done it with two games to spare which lightens the fixture schedule. Hansi Flick will shift focus to the Bundesliga & Die Roten will assert their dominance in the coming weeks starting with Stuttgart.

Prediction – 3 Units: Bayern Half Time/Full Time -129
