Bundesliga Matchday 15 Betting Tips

Posted By Alex Blowers on January 7, 2021

The last 5 Matchdays have been pretty brutal. Only 4 of the 14 Bets I’ve recommended have hit, resulting in an 11.084 Unit loss. I’m still in profit for the season & I’m confident I can turn it around. Hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks if you have been following my bets.

I predicted Bayern Munich to kick off 2021 with a dominating home performance, but, I didn’t think it would turn out like this. Mainz 05 took the lead on 32 minutes after Jonathan Burkardt sprung Bayern’s high defensive line. Poor marking on a set-piece allowed Alexander Hack to double their lead going into halftime.

Hansi Flick made a double substitution for the second half, bringing on Niklas Süle & Leon Goretzka. Die Roten kicked it up a few gears & was level after 10 minutes with goals from Joshua Kimmich & Leroy Sané. Bayern continued to dominate & ran out 5-2 winners for my -2.5 Goals bet to cash.

VFL Wolfsburg deserved something out of this game. They conceded possession, seeing only 41% of the ball, but, had 21 attempts on goal to Borussia Dortmund’s 14. They were punished for poor marking in the 66th when Manuel Akanji headed BVB into the lead.

In the dying minutes, Wolfsburg pushed for an equalizer & left themselves exposed at the back. Jadon Sancho broke free to score his first goal of the season & wrap up the 3 points. The England international has been poor this season. It looks like his failed move to Manchester United has really affected him & Dortmund might find it difficult to get the 120 million Euro transfer fee they want.

Borussia Mönchengladbach dominated this game. 24 attempts on goal, 14 corners, 3 big chances missed & they hit the woodwork. But, Marco Rose’s side was only able to score once in the 58th minute with Breel Embolo finishing off a slick counter-attack. It rounded off another disappointing weekend of picks with my Gladbach -1.5 Goals failing to hit.

This should be a great game of football between two of the best sides in German football. They meet on Friday night to kick off Matchday 15 & both are fully rested.

In team news, Gladbach is without the suspended Marcus Thuram & Valentino Lazaro is unavailable with a groin issue. Serge Gnabry is a doubt for Bayern, but, Kingsley Coman is available after recovering from his muscle problem. Coman has been their best winger this season & will be welcomed back to the starting lineup.

Between the sticks, we have two of the Bundesliga’s best Goalkeepers going head to head. Yann Sommer & Manuel Neuer will have to be at their best & a strong performance from either could tip this contest in their team’s favor.

Joshua Kimmich & Leon Goretzka haven’t started a game together for 2 months. Hansi Flick reunited these two for the second half against Mainz & Bayern were a different side. I love watching these two play together & I think their energy in the middle of the pitch will be the difference in this game.

Bayern has found a way these last 2 months with key players out injured. Back to full strength, I think they win this by 2 or 3 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: Bayern Munich -1.5 Goals +145

We have another treat on Saturday evening with these two young, talented, exciting sides facing off.

In team news, RB Leipzig is without their newest signing Dominik Szoboszlai. He is out with an adductor injury alongside Justin Kluivert, Christopher Nkunku & Ibrahima Konaté. Dortmund is missing Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard & Marcel Schmelzer.

I’m excited to see Erling Haaland go up against Dayot Upamecano. Arguably, these two are the best players in the world for their respective positions under the age of 23. Both are blessed with pace, strength & technical quality, it will be a great battle between these two.

Edin Terzić has gone for a 4-2-3-1 in his first two games in charge. I expect him to stick with this formation & the same starting eleven from last week’s 2-0 win. Personally, I would play Emre Can in CM for his energy & drive but I think he will keep faith with Thomas Delaney.

One weak point for Dortmund is Thomas Meunier at RB who is great going forward but really poor defensively. The Belgian international will be responsible for containing Angeliño who has been Leipzig’s best attacking threat this season. The Manchester City Loanee has 8 goals & 6 assists in all competitions from LB/LWB. It’s only a matter of time before Luis Enrique gives him his first Spain cap.

Leipzig has been phenomenal at home this season with 9 wins & 1 draw. Julian Nageslmann has the tactical edge & I wouldn’t be surprised if he sets up in a 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2. He used these formations in the wins against Manchester United & PSG at The Red Bull Arena.

Back Leipzig to get the 3 points.

Prediction – 2 Units: RB Leipzig Money Line +130
