Bundesliga Matchday 17 Betting Tips

Posted By Alex Blowers on January 18, 2021

I finished Matchday 16 with a small profit of 1.5 Units. My bet of Both Teams To Score Yes + Eintracht Frankfurt Money Line to win hit & Bayer Leverkusen Money Line didn’t.

Luka Jović entered the game on 52 minutes & took 10 minutes to get back amongst the goals. Jović let Filip Kostić’s dinked cross come across his body & anticipated the bounce perfectly. His half volley technique was faultless as he smashed the ball into the roof of the net. As FC Schalke 04 pushed for the equalizer, Kostić won the ball & slid Jović in, who cut inside & finished confidently at the near post to complete his brace. Frankfurt’s prodigal son has scored as many goals in 38 minutes as he did in 18 months at Real Madrid.

Matthew Hoppe scored again for Schalke. The 19-year-old American capitalized on a mixup between Martin Hinteregger & Kevin Trapp to fire in the equalizer seconds after André Silva scored the opener. Schalke’s performances have improved under Christian Groß & they have a chance of staying up.

This win moves Frankfurt up to 7th in the league & 3 points off the Top 4. Silva’s partnership with Jović has the potential to get them Champions League football.

After the final whistle, the players & backroom staff formed a circle around David Abraham. This was the club captain’s farewell game as he retires & moves back to his native Argentina. He has been at the club for 5 & a half years & helped them lift the DFB-Pokal in 2018 with a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich. The club did their best to give him the sendoff he deserves, but it was a shame fans weren’t there to share in the moment.

FC Union Berlin deserved their win against Bayer Leverkusen. They conceded possession, defended solidly, restricted Leverkusen to long shots & countered very well. Substitute Cedric Teuchert was unlucky not to put his side 1-0 up in the 50th minute when his effort hit the inside of the post, spun agonizingly across the goal mouth & out of play. Peter Bosz’s side failed to learn their lesson as Teuchert raced away again in the 88th minute & scored the winner.

This was Leverkusen’s third loss in four games after going unbeaten in the opening twelve games of the season. They need to quickly turn their form around with Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg, RB Leipzig & VfB Stuttgart up next. At the end of this run, they could very well find themselves out of the Top 4.

Both of these sides are in a poor run of form. Dortmund has shown up in the big games this season, but I still feel this could go either way. I think the one thing we are guaranteed in this game is goals.

Dortmund has kept one clean sheet in their last 10 games & has failed to score just once in their 16 games. Leverkusen has kept three clean sheets in their last 10 games & has failed to score in 3 of their 16 games so far. The last 5 times these two sides have met has finished with 4 goals or more.

The young attacking talent on show in this game is ridiculous. in the Bundesliga. BVB’s Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Youssoufa Moukoko & Gio Reyna up against Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby, Florian Wirtz & Patrik Schick is a must-watch game.

I’m backing over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams To Score Yes.

Prediction – 2 Units: Both Team To Score Yes & Over 2.5 Goals -134

SC Freiburg’s 5 game winning streak came to an end against Bayern Munich. They lost 2-1 & almost equalized in stoppage time when Nils Petersen crashed his effort off the bar. Christian Streich has turned things around after a poor start to the season. They picked up 6 points in their opening 8 games & 17 points in the following 8 games.

I cashed on this bet last week & I’m backing it again. Freiburg doesn’t have players anywhere near Luka Jović & André Silva’s quality & this will be the difference in this game.

Prediction – 2 Units: Both Teams To Score Yes & Eintracht Frankfurt To Win +295
