Bundesliga Matchday 29 Betting Tips: How Will Bayern Munich Respond?

Posted By Alex Blowers on April 16, 2021

Matchday 28 was a glorious weekend, with four of my five bets hitting totaling 7.29 Units of profit.

FC Köln vs. Mainz 05 turned into a 5 goal thriller which sunk my Under 2.5 Goals pick. Leandro Barreiro scored Mainz’s winner in the 91st minute to break Köln’s hearts, and manager Markus Gisdol left the club hours later. Friedhelm Funkel has been appointed for the last five games of the season. The veteran coach has been managing for over 30 years and will need all of his experience to save The Billy Goats from relegation.

I absolutely smashed Eintracht Frankfurt vs. VfL Wolfsburg with all four bets hitting after 27 minutes:

  • First Half Both Teams to Score YES
  • First Half Over 1.5 Goals
  • Over 2.5 Goals
  • Luka Jović to Score Anytime

There were some great goals scored in this end-to-end thriller, and it will go down as one of the games of the season.

It has been a terrible week for Bayern Munich.

They dropped points to FC Union Berlin after conceding a late equalizer. They were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG on the away goals rule, and Hansi Flick is emerging as the favorite to succeed Joachim Löw when he steps down from the German national team in the summer.

This weekend Bayern faces a tough trip to Wolfsburg with Robert Lewandowski, Niklas Süle, Douglas Costa, Serge Gnabry, and Corentin Tolisso all unavailable and Lucas Hernández a doubt. Leon Goretzka is expected to return to the starting lineup, and they will likely go into this game with their lead at the top cut to 2 points. RB Leipzig host TSG Hoffenheim on Friday night, and it’s almost a certainty they will collect 3 points to crank up the pressure on the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Wolfsburg is one of this season’s surprise packages. They exited the Europa League in the 3rd qualifying round, and Oliver Glasner’s side has taken full advantage of their lighter fixture schedule by climbing up to 3rd. Die Wolfe have built their success around a solid defense, and the four goals they conceded last weekend against Frankfurt were the most in a game this season. The pressure could be getting them to, but with a 8 point lead over 5th placed Borussia Dortmund and six games left, they should qualify for the Champions League.

The question is, how will Bayern respond to this week’s disappointment and Leipzig’s pressure? Historically, they handle these situations very well. A great example is their response to Borussia Dortmund winning the Bundesliga back to back in 2010/11 and 2011/12 and smashing them 5-2 in the 2012 DFB-Pokal Final. In the following season, Bayern achieved the treble for the first time in their history.

We will see a champion’s performance from Bayern, and they will collect the 3 points.

Prediction – 3 Units: Bayern Munich Money Line -112 | 1 Unit: Bayern -1.5 Goals +245

As I mentioned above, I can’t see anything other than Leipzig winning this game. Their home form has been outstanding this season with 1o wins, 2 draws, 2 defeats, 25 goals scored, and 11 conceded. Their opponents Hoffenheim have been poor on the road with 3 wins, 4 draws, 7 defeats, 18 goals scored, and 28 conceded.

Leipzig are reaping the rewards of only having to play once a week after exiting the Champions League. This lighter schedule allows Julian Nagelsmann to fully prepare his side for each opponent, and they took Werder Bremen apart last weekend, winning 4-1. Dani Olmo’s goal is a thing of beauty, and we will see another dominant display from them in Friday night’s game.

Back Leipzig to win comfortably and keep the pressure on Bayern.

Prediction – 2 Units: RB Leipzig -1.5 Goals +105
