Bundesliga Matchday 32 Betting Tips: RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund

Posted By Alex Blowers on May 7, 2021

Matchday 31 was one of those ‘what the f*ck’ weekends with all five of my bets failing to hit.

1o men Borussia Dortmund managed to keep a clean sheet against VfL Wolfsburg, who last failed to score back in Matchday 21. Mainz 05 have been impressive under Bo Svensson, but no one expected them to beat Bayern Munich and delay their title celebrations. FC Augsburg and FC Köln’s relegation battle exploded into a 5 goal thriller with Ondrej Duda scoring a beauty after 8 minutes.

Hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks with your thoughts, who you support, and picks for the week.

These two meet in the DFB-Pokal final five days after this game, and both will be prioritizing very differently.

The title race is over, with Bayern needing one win from their final three games. That leaves RB Leipzig in second, and they have all but qualified for the Champions League next season due to their superior goal difference over the teams below them. Die Roten Bullen needs a solitary point from their final three games for confirmation.

Leipzig was formed in 2009, and the club are yet to win a piece of major silverware. Everyone at the club will be focused on winning the DFB-Pokal, and it would be the perfect send-off for Julian Nagelsmann and Dayot Upamecano, who are both joining Bayern in the summer.

Dortmund finds themselves one point outside of the Top 4. Qualifying for the Champions League will boost the coffers and silence some of the speculation around Erling Haaland leaving this summer. Silverware should always be prioritized, and that is what the fans will want. But, if the board had a choice of which game to focus on, they would pick this one.

It’s likely Leipzig fans won’t see January signing Dominik Szoboszlai make his debut till next season. The former Red Bull Salzburg winger is still struggling with an abductor injury that has kept him sidelined since he joined. Tyler Adams and Christopher Nkunku are both suffering from back issues and are doubts.

With that in mind, I think Nagelsmann goes with the same starting lineup that beat Werder Bremen. With the exception that Yussef Poulsen or Emil Forsberg comes in for Alexander Sørloth to lead the line. The Norwegian international has struggled at times this season, contributing just 5 goals and 3 assists in the Bundesliga.

Edin Terzić will replace the suspended Jude Bellingham with Mahmoud Dahoud, who is returning from suspension himself. After picking up a calf injury in the semi-final 5-0 victory over Holstein Kiel, Gio Reyna is doubtful. Haaland sat out that game with a minor muscle injury. I’m confident he will return for this game despite reports that he hasn’t returned to training yet. Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, and Thorgan Hazard will play as a three behind him.

In recent weeks Leipzig have struggled for form in the Bundesliga with two wins, a loss, and a draw scoring eight and conceding two. Dortmund have been under a mini resurgence winning their last four, scoring eleven, and conceding three. With the pressure on and Haaland leading the line, I’m backing BVB to come out on top.

Put your money behind Dortmund collect 3 points.

Prediction – 2 Units: Borussia Dortmund Money Line +106

Bayern will not slip up again this weekend, and Hansi Flick has his strongest eleven available:

Manuel NeuerBenjamin Pavard, Jérôme Boateng, David Alaba, Alphonso DaviesJoshua Kimmich, Leon GoretzkaSerge Gnabry, Thomas Müller, Kingsley ComanRobert Lewandowski

They could start this game as champions depending on the result between Dortmund and Leipzig, who kick off earlier. Whether it’s celebrating or needing the win, we will see a strong performance from Die Roten. They are at home, and winning the Meisterschale at the Allianz Arena on their terms will be that much sweeter.

It will also be the perfect send-off for Alaba, Boateng, Javi Martínez, and Flick, who are leaving in the summer. The whole team will be doing their best to help Lewandowski match Gerd Müller’s 40 goal season record. He is four goals short, and I think he will surpass it and finish with 42.

Back Bayern to start strong and steamroll their way to the title.

Prediction – 2 Units: Bayern Munich Halftime / Fulltime +106 | 2 Units: Bayern Munich -1.5 Goals +102 | 1 Unit: Bayern Munich -2.5 Goals +245

Haaland and Lewandowski have been magnificent this season, scoring goals for fun. These two to score anytime at +141 is great value, and I think they will produce big performances this weekend.

Prediction – 2 Units: Parlay Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski to Score Anytime +141
