We have two matchdays left with the race for the Top 4, UEFA Europa Conference League, and Relegation Survival hotting up.
Eintracht Frankfurt dropped down to 5th after Mainz 05 held them to a 1-1 draw with FC Schalke o4 and SC Freiburg their final two opponents. It looks like Borussia Dortmund will need all 6 points from their games against Mainz 05, and Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg need to collect 4 off RB Leipzig and Mainz to qualify for the Champions League.
Dortmund and Leipzig meet in the final of this year’s DFB Pokal, which means that seventh will earn a spot in UEFA’s Europa Conference League. Borussia Mönchengladbach currently occupies that position with difficult ties against VfB Stuttgart and Werder Bremen up next. Fortunately for them, their biggest challengers 8th placed FC Union Berlin play Bayer Leverkusen, and Leipzig and 9th placed Freiburg faces Bayern Munich and Frankfurt. 10th placed Stuttgart have an outside chance of leapfrogging these three sides. They need to win their final two games and hope that results elsewhere go their way.
FC Augsburg and Werder Bremen meet this Matchday. The victor will more than likely secure their Bundesliga status for another season. The side that loses will probably be left to battle Arminia Bielefeld for 16th, who plays TSG Hoffenheim and Stuttgart. The side that finishes in that position will face a 2.Bundesliga side in a two-legged Relegation Playoff.
It’s not looking good for FC Köln, who were hammered 4-1 at the weekend. They face fellow strugglers Hertha Berlin next, who are unbeaten in six and have a game in hand. That match is against the league’s worse side Schalke and The Billy Goats also face them on the final day of the season, but it might be too late by then.
- Top 4: Wolfsburg and Dortmund
- UEFA Europa Conference League: Gladbach
- Relegation Playoff: Arminia Bielefeld
- Relegated: Köln

BAYERN MUNICH WIN THEIR 9TH BUNDESLIGA TITLE IN A ROW
Leipzig’s 3-2 defeat to Dortmund meant Bayern won the Bundesliga for the 9th season in a row. Most sides ease up after being crowned champions but not Die Roten. They celebrated by destroying Gladbach 6-0 and were the side who wanted this more from the very first minute. I agree that it’s damaging for any league to have one team dominate like this, but you have to respect the club’s quality and drive to keep on winning whilst playing some of the best-attacking football around.
If they avoid defeat in their final two games, Hansi Flick will end his time at the club with a record of seven titles and seven defeats. His managerial reign will go down not only as the best in Bayern’s history but one of the best in the history of the game.
ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING GERD MÜLLER’S 40 GOAL RECORD
Robert Lewandowski’s hattrick against Gladbach takes him to 39 goals for the season. With the title wrapped up, the team can focus on helping him achieve this amazing feat of breaking Gerd Müller’s 40 goal record. They face Freiburg and Augsburg in their final two games, and you would be a fool to bet against him doing it.
Let’s take a look at the 2020-21 Bundesliga Matchday 33 Betting Lines.
BUNDESLIGA MATCHDAY 33 BETTING LINES
ODDS & ENDS
- Two words why you should back Eintracht Frankfurt -2.5 Goals at +180…….it’s Schalke!
- Back Lewandowski to get the goals he needs to surpass Gerd Müller. Draftkings are offering him at +205 to score at least 2 goals.
- VfB Stuttgart or the Draw at +117 is great value in their tie against Gladbach.
- I would invest in the Draw at +210 in Augsburg’s game against Werder Bremen. Neither side can afford to lose as they fight to stay in the Bundesliga.
