Champions League Matchday 4 Betting Advice for German Clubs

Posted By Alex Blowers on November 23, 2020

All four German clubs collected three points in Matchday 3 but it was a 50/50 split with 2 of the 4 bets I recommended cashing.

Bayern Munich & Borussia Mönchengladbach both scored 6 in their games to record emphatic victories away from home. Borussia Dortmund raced to a 3-0 lead in the opening 32 minutes & RB Leipzig revenged their Champions League Semi-Final loss to PSG with a 2-1 home win.

BAYERN MUNICH

Red Bull Salzburg proved to be a tricky opponent after taking the lead on 4 minutes. Bayern asserted control & went into halftime 2-1 up. Masaya Okugawa equalized for the Austrian side in the 66th minute but Hansi Flick is blessed with an abundance of riches on the bench. He introduced Leroy Sané, Javi Martínez & Bouna Sarr in the 75th minute & Bayern surged to run out 6-2 winners.

UP NEXT: RED BULL SALZBURG AT HOME

Bayern are coming off a disappointing result in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen holding them to a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena. Hansi Flick chose to rest Leon Goretzka, Niclas Süle, Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sané & it failed pay off. There was further disappointment with Lucas Hernández having to be subbed off in the 18th minute after falling awkwardly. It’s unlikely he’ll be available for Wednesday night & David Alaba is likely to start at LB with Alphonso Davies still out injured.

I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, Red Bull Salzburg are an entertaining side but they will always concede more than they score when up against a side of Bayern’s quality. Three points here guarantees Die Roten’s qualification for the knock out stages & they will get them in style.

Prediction – Bayern Munich -1.5 Goals -195

BORUSSIA DORTMUND

A CB injury crisis saw Lucian Favre turn to Alex Witsel & the gamble paid off. BVB’s trip to Belgium turned out to be relatively straight forward with the game wrapped up after 32 minutes. Erling Haaland scored the third in a 3-0 win & it was his 14th goal in eleven Champions League games.

UP NEXT: CLUB BRUGGE AT HOME

Dortmund returned from the international break in fine form to beat Hertha Berlin 5-2. Haaland got on the scoresheet 4 times & he scored 3 of those in a fifteen minute spell to show the world he deserved to be named Tuttosport’s 2020 Golden Boy.

BVB did it with Gio Reyna, Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard & Jadon Sancho all on the bench. These four will be fresh for the visit of Club Brugge & Mats Hummels & Emre Can are back from injury to add solidity to the defense.

Prediction – Borussia Dortmund -1.5 Goals -129

RB LEIPZIG

Julian Nagelsmann’s side came from 1-0 down to beat an injury ravaged PSG side. Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, Mauro Icardi were among some of the players missing & Tomas Tuchel’s side finished with 9 men. Idrissa Gueye & Presnel Kimpembe were both sent off after receiving two yellow cards & will serve a one match ban.

UP NEXT: PSG AWAY

I, like many others thought PSG reaching the Champions League Final would give them the platform to assert themselves as a major force in European football. They are top of Ligue 1 but they lost again on Friday 3-2 to AS Monaco after taking a 2-0 lead. There’s also a petulance & ill discipline in their squad with Abdou Diallo becoming their seventh player to be sent off in just 14 games this season.

Neymar, Kylian Mbappé & Leandro Parades should be available to start after featuring against AS Monaco. PSG’s stars are back but they’re out a little out of form & they’re lacking creativity in midfield with Marco Verratti still out injured. RB Leipzig are in a good moment & I’m backing them to get something out of this game.

Prediction – RB Leipzig or the Draw +140

BORUSSIA MÖNCHENGLADBACH

When the Groups were drawn I wrote off Gladbach’s chances of advancing to the knockout stages. Marco Rose’s side has proven me wrong & they are sitting top of Group B after mauling Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 away from home. Alassane Pléa scored a hat trick with his second the pick of the bunch.

UP NEXT: SHAKHTAR DONETSK AT HOME

If Gladbach get the 3 points here & Real Madrid beat Inter Milan, they will have a fantastic chance of qualifying for the knockout stages. They will probably have to do it without Pléa & Jonas Hoffman who are struggling with injuries. Marcus Thuram will be fresh after starting on the bench at the weekend in their 1-1 draw with FC Augsburg.

In the six games these two clubs have played so far in the Champions League, five of them have finished over 3.5 Goals & that’s what I’m backing here.

Prediction – Over 3.5 Goals +140
