Champions League Round of 16 Leg 1 Recap: Chelsea, Barcelona with Limp Showings

Posted By High Press 10 on February 25, 2020

Flaccid. Limp. Impotent. Chelsea. Barcelona.

Bayern Munich and Serge Gnabry ❤ England

Something about England appeals to Bayern Munich this season. Behind four Serge Gnabry goals, they mercilessly hammered Tottenham 7-2 at Wembley in the group stage. On Tuesday, Gnabry netted a brace as Bayern traveled to Stamford Bridge and pounded Chelsea 3-0. Robert Lewandowski just keeps scoring, as he added one in the 76th minute.

Bayern held 63% possession and tallied 16 shots on goal. Chelsea mustered 9 (3 on target).

The impressive showing vaulted the German giants to co-favorites to with the 2019-20 Champions League at +400.

Barcelona continue their up and down season

Over in Italy, Napoli took an early lead on Barcelona after a Dries Mertens 30th minute goal. Antoine Griezmann leveled the game in the 57th minute.

Napoli are arguably the better side. While Barca made little of their 67% possession, Napoli managed more quality shots than the Catalans (4 on target to 2). Barca also survived a late bone-headed Arturo Vidal red card.

Barcelona see their title odds drop to +700.
