Odds & Ends
This has been an unprecedented time for modern soccer. The uncertainty and changing conditions of the pandemic are a recipe for chaos. If recent form holds, expect at least one upset from the leg 2 matches.
From an odds perspective, that could be Juventus. They’re only 40% to advance to the quarters, yet heavy favorites against Lyon. Yes, a 2-1 Lyon loss would put them through. However, the Italians have been vulnerable, only winning 2 of their last 6 matches.
Another team that could pull out a win: Real Madrid. While their chances of advancing are slim (10%), they’ve been impressive since the restart. Pulling out a narrow victory against a Manchester City team who might be content sitting on their aggregate wouldn’t be a surprise.
