DFB Pokal Betting 21/22: Round 2 Lines, Futures and Tips

Written By Alex Blowers on October 25, 2021

The DFB-Pokal returns this week for Round 2. This season is the 79th edition of Germany’s most prestigious cup competition and the only one open to every men’s side at any level. That means semi-pro sides can be drawn against some of Europe’s best players like SV Babelsberg 03 hosting RB Leipzig at their 10,499 capacity Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion.

ESPN owns the broadcast rights for this competition and will show games live across their platforms. Let’s take a look at the 2021-22 DFB-Pokal Round 2 Betting Lines, Futures and Tips.

Every team is just four wins away from the final. Here are the futures for the seven sides I think have a realistic chance of winning the DFB-Pokal:

  • Bayern Munich -105
  • Borussia Dortmund +450
  • RB Leipzig +900
  • Bayer Leverkusen +1400
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach +1600
  • VfL Wolfsburg +2000
  • Eintracht Frankfurt +2800

Bayern Munich remains the favorite to win this competition, and their odds have improved from -120 to -105. Die Roten face Borussia Mönchengladbach this round who held them to a 1-1 draw on Matchday 01 in the Bundesliga. If you think Julian Nagelsmann will lead this side to cup glory jump on them now because -105 is the best price you’ll be able to get them at all season.

Borussia Dortmund won this competition last season and are second favorites to retain their title. They have been impressive at times this season and sit second in the Bundesliga, one point behind Bayern. Last week in the UEFA Champions League, we saw them turn in a terrible performance against Ajax, losing 4-0. At +450, there are too many question marks about consistency to consider them good value at this stage.

In the previous round, I recommended RB Leipzig as the best value available and I still think that’s true despite them struggling under Jesse Marsch. Keep in mind that the final is seven months away and the next round is in January. They should beat their opponents SV Babelsberg 03 with ease and could be in a better place in 2022.

Also, there’s a good chance Leipzig will finish bottom of their UEFA Champions League Group and exit Europe. This will lighten their fixture schedule and allow the club to fully focus on domestic competitions.

I recommended Borussia Mönchengladbach as an outsider worth considering in the previous round but a tough draw against Bayern means they’ll likely exit the competition this round. It’s best to hold off backing them but keep in mind that if they pull off a shock win and defeat the Bavarian Giants their odds will shorten considerably.

Safe Option: Bayern Munich -105
Best Value: RB Leipzig +900

Here are a selection of games from this weeks action:

DFB Pokal Betting 21/22: Round 2 Lines, Futures and Tips

  • I’m going to back my favorite Bundesliga team from last season FC Schalke 04 on the Moneyline at +100. I cashed a lot of picks betting on them to lose but I’m going to back them against TSV 1860 Munich. Schalke have won six of their last seven games keeping five clean sheets and only conceding three goals. Their opponents 1860 Munich haven’t won in seven games drawing six and losing one.
  • If you’re into Parlays I recommend combining RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen. Parlaying their Moneylines comes out to -172. If you want better value I would consider Parlaying all three on the Spread at -1.5 Goals which gets you odds of +260.
  • Bayern are rolling teams up and smoking them for fun right now. They’ve won 12 games this season, and 11 of those have been by two goals or more. Back them on the Spread -1.5 Goals at +110.
