Champions League Matchday 2 Betting Advice for German Clubs

Posted By Alex Blowers on October 26, 2020

Overall it was a good start for the 4 German clubs. Bayern Munich & RB Leipzig won comfortably at home whilst Borussia Mochengladbach & Borussia Dortmund dropped points in Italy.

Check out the full Champions League group stage matchday 2 lines.

The goal scoring hero of the final, Kingsley Coman put a man of the match performance in with two goals & an assist as Bayern started the defense of their Champions League title.  They recorded a resounding 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid & equaled Diego Simeone’s heaviest defeat (Poetically 4-0 away to Dortmund) of his Atléti reign.

All four goals had real quality to them & Joshua Kimmich’s pass, for the first, was the highlight for me. He’s fast becoming one of my favorite players to watch & embodies everything that’s great about this Bayern side. Technical quality combined with discipline, hard work & tenacity.

Hansi Flick takes his side to Russia’s capital for Matchweek 02. Lokomotiv were fortunate to earn a point away at Red Bull Salzburg after being on the back foot for most of the game & shouldn’t cause too many issues.

Bayern will start strong like they do in most of their matches & be 1 or 2 goals up by half time. They’ll see the second half out comfortably & collect another 3 points.

Prediction – Bayern Half Time / Full Time -180

Dortmund traveled to Rome depleted at the back, with Emre Can suspended & Manual Akanji unavailable through injury. Lucian Favre turned to midfielder Thomas Delaney to fill in & the gamble failed to pay off. Lazio ran out comfortable 3-1 winners with a strong performance not many expected.

Ciro Immobile’s first goal was the result of Thomas Meunier playing an awful pass under pressure. I thought the Belgian defender would bring experience & stability to BVB’s back line but he is fast becoming a liability.

One positive is “The American DreamGio Reyna came off the bench & looked more than capable of playing at this level. His drilled cross fell perfectly for Erling Haaland who rifled the ball into the roof of the net.

Zenit conceded a 93rd minute goal in their 2-1 loss to Club Brugge. The match was pretty evenly contested & the Russian side will be kicking themselves for not taking anything from the game.

Can is still absent as he serves the final game of his two match suspension but Akanji should be available after starting the 3-0 victory over Schalke in the Revierderby. Back Dortmund to get back on track with a dominating home performance.

Prediction – Borussia Dortmund -1.5 Goals +108

Basaksehir’s former Premier League greats Martin Škrtel, Rafael & Demba Ba weren’t enough to stop Leipzig wrapping this game up after 20 minutes. Angeliño scored a brace & is looking better & better with each game. It’s puzzling why Pep Guardiola allowed him to leave on loan & stuck with Oleksandr Zinchenko & Benjamin Mendy.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side put a good counter attacking performance in against PSG but lets not get to excited. The Parisian side were contesting the Champions League final two months ago & with no off season, are clearly suffering from a mental hangover.

Marco Verratti & Leandro Parades were both unavailable through injuries & Thomas Tuchel played a midfield three of Ander Herrera, Danilo Pereira & Idrissa Gueye. All three are defensive minded players who win the ball & operate deep.

Leipzig are looking the complete opposite with their Champions League Semi-Final defeat breathing belief into in his young squad. They are unbeaten this season with 6 wins, 1 draw, 17 goals scored & 3 conceded.

Julian Nagelsmann will have a tactical plan in mind to combat OGS’s predictable counter attacking game plan. Back the German side to return home with another 3 points.

Prediction – RB Leipzig Money Line +240

Gladbach should have seen the game out against Inter Milan. Marco Rose’s side dug deep to come back from 1-0 down & threw the win away in the 90th minute with poor defending on a corner.

I’ve watched this pass from Florian Nauheus around 45 a times & I’m still not bored of seeing it. The vision & weight of pass is absolute perfection & I dare anyone to show me a better through ball this season.

Sergio Ramos returned from injury to lead Los Blancos to victory in El Classico & all was forgiven. Zidane’s side finished the week on a high after their embarrassing performance against Shakhtar Donetsk & they’ll need another big performance to get their Champions League campaign back on track.

Gladbach came from behind again at the weekend to beat Mainz 05 3-2. After a slow start to the season they’re starting to find their rhythm & have a genuine chance to get something out of this game.

Prediction – Borussia Mochengladbach or Draw -104
