Ligue 1 is at the top level of the French football league system. The league features 20 clubs with the sides playing each other twice (19 at home and 19 away) from August to May for a total of 380 games. The league normally takes a winter break for Christmas and New Year.
Teams are awarded 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and none for a defeat. The team with the most points at the end of the season are awarded the Ligue 1 title.
The two teams who finish with the least amount of points are relegated to the Ligue 2 and replaced by the two sides that finish first and second in that league. The team that finishes 16th in Ligue 1 faces the 3rd placed team from Ligue 2 in a two-legged playoff. The winner plays in Ligue 1, and the loser plays in Ligue 2.
WHERE CAN I STREAM LIGUE 1?
This season will run from August 8th, 2021, to May 21st, 2022. This year’s winter break is scheduled to take place from 22nd December 2021 to 9th January 2022.
beIN Sports owns the TV rights, and in previous seasons, most of the 380 games were streamed live on beIN Sports Connect. Now they have lost the TV rights to La Liga; we expect more Ligue 1 games will be broadcast live on beIN SPORTS.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO STREAM LIGUE 1?
beIN Sports and beIN Sports Connect are available on multiple platforms.
The cheapest option is the Fanatiz Front Row plan which starts at $7.99 a month or $79 for the year, and you can cancel any time.
beIN Sports also shows Soccer from the Turkish Süper Lig, Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, Recopa Sudamericana, African Cup of Nations, and more.
HIGH PRESS SOCCER RECOMMENDATION
Unless you’re a diehard fan of French football or PSG, we recommend against beIN Sports. PSG have strengthened this summer with Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Achraf Hakimi and will romp to the title.
There are cheaper subscriptions available like ESPN+ for $5.99 a month that offers much better value for money.
