🤷♂️
Honestly, at this point of the season, when it comes to Liverpool at least, all we can say is 🤷♂️. Each match all season it feels like either amazing, the listless, or the unlucky version of the Reds shows up.
Last week, Liverpool hosted Atalanta at Anfield with Champions League advancement there for the taking. They laid a giant 💩 on the field.
This right after a demolishing of Leicester a few days earlier. It’s been like that all season. So who knows. They’re becoming impossible to predict.
With that in mind, here’s a Liverpool vs Ajax Champions League preview!
Liverpool vs Ajax Champions League preview
Let’s first go with a likely starting XI:
Alisson
Neco Williams Fabinho Joel Matip Andy Robertson
Jordan Henderson Gini Wijnaldum
Diogo Jota Roberto Firmino Sadio Mane
Mo Salah
Jurgen Klopp needs to put the group away, and rolling with his best available XI is a must. The bench is thin and the only subs who seem assured to make an appearance would be Curtis Jones and Takumi Minamino, but again, who knows.
Klopp rotated his squad against Brighton on Saturday. Most of the key offensive players did not play 90 minutes. This XI has more than enough juice to get the job done.
Ajax is Ajax. They’re a well-coached side and always a tough out. But as we wrote in our preview of their match in October, Liverpool and Ajax play a similar style of soccer–the Reds just have better players. Even with all of the injuries, that hasn’t changed.
Prediction
Liverpool could win this 4-0 or lose 5-1. Who knows. Klopp should have them motivated though to secure advancement. Expect a 3-1 Reds win.
