Liverpool Player Ratings vs Atalanta: Salah Starts

Posted By High Press 10 on November 25, 2020

Liverpool look to put away Group D today, as they host Atalanta at Anfield.

Or so you’d think.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t exactly roll out his strongest side. It looks like the boss has his eye on Brighton this weekend. And Liverpool are limp in the first half. They get one errand Mo Salah shot off right before half but that’s it. A boring 0-0 match after 45 minutes.

The wheels come off the Reds in the second half. They don’t get a shot on target until the 89th minute. Inexcusable performance. Liverpool lose 2-0.

Here are Liverpool player ratings vs Atalanta for November 25, 2020.

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Atalanta

Jurgen Klopp (1) –

Bad line-up selection. Subs didn’t make sense if he was just planning on punting this match. A rare total whiff by the boss.

Alisson (5) –

Challenging in the 9th minute and comes up with a big save. Neither goal really on him.

Neco Williams (6) –

Beat early to create a chance for Atalanta. Looks good going forward. Picks up his pace and attacking once Liverpool go down by 2. Maybe the best of the starting backline which doesn’t say much.

Rhys Williams (5) –

Did well his last start vs Atalanta. Can he rep well again? Looks steady and calm. Not getting caught out of position. Until he does. Loses his mark to give Atalanta a free header and 2-0 lead.

Joel Matip (5.5) –

Never totally looked comfortable. Uninspiring.

Kostas Tsimikas (5.5) –

Welcome to the big time, Kostas. Looks confident early, strong going forward. Subbed off in the 61st. Did nothing to raise any red flags and flashes some potential.

James Milner (6.5) –

Typical Milly working hard but not much to show for it.

Gini Wijnaldum (6) –

Trying to assert himself. Intercepting and aware. An ok performance. Subbed off in the 61st for Fabinho.

Curtis Jones (6) –

Coming off his best senior team performance, Jones is brimming with confidence. While he looks the part, he doesn’t produce any real results.

Divock Origi (4) –

Did he even play? Subbed out after an uneventful 60 minutes.

Mo Salah (4) –

Back from COVID, how will his energy levels be? A little sloppy early. Makes no impact. Should’ve sat this one out. Clearly wasn’t ready. Subbed out after an hour for Bobby.

Sadio Mane (4) –

Very sloppy early, almost like he doesn’t want to be bothered. A step slow. Poor.

Diogo Jota (5) – Comes on after an hour to give the offense a spark. Doesn’t.

Bobby Firmino (4) – Doesn’t even seem to be trying. Going half-speed.

Andy Robertson (6) –

At least looks like he gives a shit.

Fabinho (5) –

Should’ve started. Looks solid in dispossessing and controlling the midfield.

Takumi Minamino (NR) – On late to give an offensive spark.

No one. Whoever didn’t play today gets the man of the match.
