Liverpool Player Ratings vs Leeds (April 19, 2021)

Posted By High Press 10 on April 19, 2021

All is not well for Liverpool today!

First, the club was unceremoniously dumped from the Champions League last week by Real Madrid. But more troubling, Liverpool owners FSG were part of the group who decided to break away and created a universally despised Super League

Under that cloud of vitriol, the Reds travel to play Leeds United today. Liverpool supporters gathered outside Elland Road to protest the Super League before the match. Fun times!

Fairly open and exciting first half. Possession was even, but Liverpool had the lion’s share of shots. A Sadio Mane goal puts the Reds up 1-0 at the half.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand Leeds equalizes on a corner with 5 minutes left. 1-1 drawlakjsdfljsadlknasoidfawoiejf;lakjs

Here are Liverpool player ratings vs Leeds for April 19, 2021.

Liverpool Player Ratings vs Leeds

Manager

Jurgen Klopp (7) –

Takes admirable pre-match stance against Super League.

Had the lads playing well and focused. Unlucky to end in a draw.

Goalkeeper

Alisson (8) –

Some confident and clean distribution early. Like seeing that. Afraid typing this but looks very confident and strong in the first half. Another big save in the 69th. Holy shit another massive save in the 77th. Deserved a clean sheet. Tough goal to give up at the end.

Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (8) –

This looks like Trent! Earns the assist on Mane’s opener. It’s like 2018 all over again. Another strong showing today. Best of the backline.

Ozan Kabak (7) –

Alert. Making good reads in intercepting and driving. Can’t help he isn’t taller on the header equalizer.

Fabinho (6) –

Back at CB, getting the call over Phillips (knock). Aggressive dribble into the box sets Bobby up for an early attempt. Missed having Big Nat there on the Leeds equalizer. Fairly lackluster performance.

Andy Robertson (6) –

Nice cut back and delivery across the box in the 7th minute didn’t find any trailers. Sees little of the ball. Most of the action is on Trent’s side.

Midfielders

Gini Wijnaldum (5) –

One of those “where’s Gini?” games. Can’t really tell you anything he did good or bad.

James Milner (6) –

Really getting some run from Klopp of late. Gets run for a full 90 minutes. Some solid play but nothing game-changing.

Thiago (7) –

Back in the starting line-up. A solid attempt on goal in the opening minutes. Active throughout but still no break-out game.

Forwards

Sadio Mane (7.5) –

There’s that goal we’ve been looking for! Put Liverpool up 1-0 off TAA’s ball in. First goal in 9 domestic matches. Subbed off in the 71st minute for Mo.

Roberto Firmino (7) –

Strong on ball as always. Link up play is good. Rips a solid attempt at start of second half.

Diogo Jota (6) –

Gets the call over Salah. Has that “I’m hungry for a goal” Salah vibe going. Critical in the build-up on Mane’s opener. Gacks a pass too heavy on a 4 vs 3 late that could’ve sealed the win. Subbed off in the 81st. Ok showing, not his best not his worst.

Substitutions

Mo Salah (7) –

On the 71st for Mane. Intercepts and gets a solid attempt off quickly after coming on. Should’ve started. Was great.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (NR) –

Subbed in the 81st for Jota. Could’ve made a better effort on the corner that leveled the game. Misses chance with a poor touch and shot in stoppage.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Maybe Trent. Would’ve been Ali with the clean sheet. Whatever.
