Manchester United Sack Solskjaer

Written By Alex Blowers on November 21, 2021

Finally, Manchester United sack Solskjaer.

The club called an emergency meeting after Saturday’s abysmal 4-1 defeat to Watford that could have been worse if it wasn’t for David De Gea. United’s goalkeeper saved a penalty and the retake in the first half before Joshua King and Ismaïla Sarr made it 2-0 to the Hornets.

The underutilized Donny van de Beek was brought on at half-time and made it 2-1 after five minutes. All hopes of a comeback were dashed on 69 minutes when captain Harry Maguire was sent off for his second bookable offence. In injury time, João Pedro and Emmanuel Dennis scored to wrap up the points for Claudio Ranieri‘s side.

At the final whistle, United’s fans booed Ole off the pitch, and some of the players and staff were in tears. This was the club’s fourth loss in their last five Premier League games, and the Board finally decided enough is enough.

  • Leicester City 4-2 Manchester United
  • Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool
  • Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City

His departure comes at the worse possible time. United have a must-win UEFA Champions League game against Villarreal on Tuesday and faces Chelsea and Arsenal in the league. Michael Carrick is the interim manager whilst they look for a permanent replacement.

Favorites to take over at Old Trafford are Brendan Rogers, Erik ten Haag, and Zinedine Zidane. The club had the chance to get Antonio Conte after the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool but decided to give Ole more time. That indecision allowed Tottenham to swoop in and appoint the serial winner.

High Press Soccer will continue to cover this event over the next few days bringing you all the latest news as United searches for their new manager.
