Premier League Betting: Leicester City vs Manchester City Match Preview

Out: Wesley Fofana (Broken Ankle), James Justin (ACL)
Doubtful: Ricardo Pereira (Hamstring), Jannik Vestergaard (Knee), Jonny Evans (Foot)
Suspended: Ayoze Pérez
Coach: Brendan Rogers

Leicester City are suffering from a defensive injury crisis. Center back Wesley Fofana is out for the rest of the year. Jannik Vestergaard and Jonny Evans are close to full fitness but are likely to be named on the bench. That means Çaglar Söyüncu and Daniel Amertey will continue in central defense.

Söyüncu is coming off a nightmare performance for his country against the Netherlands, getting sent off after 44 minutes in Turkey‘s 6-1 defeat. Ricardo Pereira is doubtful after picking up a hamstring injury in Matchday 03.

Ayoze Pérez is unavailable, and this will be the second game of his three-match suspension. The former Newcastle forward was sent off for a challenge on Pablo Fornals in The Foxes defeat to West Ham.

Ryan Bertrand is available after recovering from Covid.

Premier League Betting: Leicester City vs Manchester City Match Preview

Out: Ederson (5 Day Isolation), Gabriel Jesus (5 Day Isolation), Zack Steffan (Covid),
Doubtful: Aymeric Laporte (Abductor), Kevin De Bruyne (Ankle), Phil Foden (Foot)
Suspended: Benjamin Mendy (Police Investigation)
Coach: Pep Guardiola

Third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson is set to start in goal. The 36-year-old veteran gets his chance after first-choice Ederson has been forced to isolate for five days after traveling to Brazil, and second-choice Zack Steffan has been diagnosed with Covid.

Gabriel Jesus also traveled to Brazil for the international break and has to isolate for five days. He will be missed by The Citizens after grabbing three assists and one goal in his last two games. Pep Guardiola has the choice of starting Riyad Mahrez or Raheem Sterling in his place, and I think he will go with the Moroccan.

It’s possible Guardiola could have Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden fit enough for the bench as they near recovery from injuries picked up at Euro 2020. Aymeric Laporte could be ruled out if he cannot recover from the abductor injury he picked up playing for Spain against Georgia.

After missing out on Harry Kane, it looks like Ferran Torres will be the temporary solution to Manchester City’s striker problem. The Spaniard impressed in their victory over Arsenal, scoring two goals and grabbing an assist. For those of you who play Fantasy Premier League (FPL), he’s a great option at £7.1 million and classed as a midfielder, meaning he’ll get 5 points for a goal instead of 4.

These two have met at the start of the season in the Community Shield. Leicester came out on top in that game, winning 1-0 after Nathan Aké gave away a penalty in the 89th minute. A month is a long time in soccer, and both teams are on different trajectories.

Manchester City are starting to find their groove, winning their last two games 5-0. With John Stones returning to the starting lineup Guardiola has his strongest back four available. Leicester City have been hammered 4-1 by West Ham and scraped a 2-1 victory against Norwich City in their last two fixtures. Brendan Rogers has several key defenders missing, and his best available center back, Söyüncu, is not in the best form.

Back City to get the 3 points and keep their third consecutive clean sheet.
