Premier League Betting 21/22: Leicester vs Liverpool Betting Preview

Written By Alex Blowers on December 28, 2021

Matchday 20’s marquee fixture takes place at the King Power Stadium between Leicester City and Liverpool. The visitors have a chance to go joint top with Manchester City for at least 24 hours if they can get a win. Brendan Rodgers‘ side have won once in their last six fixtures across all competitions and needs something from this game to help get their season back on track.

These two played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Carabao Cup six days ago that Liverpool won on penalties. We might see some bad blood between the two after Leicester revealed Ricardo Pereira will be out between 6-8 weeks after fracturing his fibula from a challenge by Tyler Morton.

The game is scheduled to kick off Tuesday at noon EST and will be shown live on NBCSN.

Leicester have nine players missing, including six from the backline. It’s about to get worse with Daniel Amartey, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Nampalys Mendy all set to leave on January 3rd for the Africa Cup of Nations.

With limited options available, Rodgers will be forced to keep faith in Luke Thomas, Amertey, and Jannik Vestergaard, who allowed Manchester City to score six past them on Sunday. Timothy Castagne came on at halftime and will start in place of Marc Albrighton.

Ndidi, Boubakary Soumaré, and Jamie Vardy all sat out Sunday’s 6-3 defeat and will be fresh for this game. Iheanacho should keep his place after sparking Leicester’s second-half comeback with two assists and a goal.

James Maddison looks back to his best, contributing six goals and four assists in his last eight appearances. If he continues playing like this, Gareth Southgate will have to give him another opportunity to break into the England squad.

Out: Harvey Elliot (Ankle), Nathanial Phillips (Fractured Cheekbone), Divock Origi (Unknown), Adrián (Unknown)
Doubtful: None
Suspended: Andrew Robertson
Coach: Jürgen Klopp

Jürgen Klopp has an almost fully fit squad to choose from, with Nathaniel Phillips, Divick Origi, Harvey Elliot, and goalkeeper Adrián, the only absentees. All the players are fresh after their Boxing Day game was postponed due to Leeds United’s Covid and injury issues.

Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Thiago, and Curtis Jones have all recovered from Covid just in time before Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, and Naby Keïta fly out on January 3rd for the Arica Cup of Nations.

Konstantinos Tsikimas will fill in at left-back for the suspended Andrew Robertson. The Scotland captain is serving the second match of his three-game ban and will also miss out on Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Chelsea.

LEICESTER CITY VS LIVERPOOL PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS

Usually, I’m a cautious bettor picking one play a game with odds of +100 or better. Sometimes opportunities arise that are too good to turn down, and you have to go for it.

Leicester’s form and squad are in terrible shape at the moment, and this will be their third game in six days. Liverpool’s team are almost at full strength and have had a six-day rest to prepare for this fixture.

I can’t see beyond Klopp’s side recording an emphatic win that could be on a par with Manchester City’s 6-3 victory over The Foxes on Sunday. With this also being my last marquee Premier League fixture of 2021, I’m ending the year in style to build some healthy profit for 2022.

Back Liverpool to start well, score goals early and collect all three points.
