Premier League Betting 21/22: Liverpool vs Leeds United Betting Preview

Written By Alex Blowers on February 21, 2022

Liverpool have an opportunity to cut Manchester City‘s lead down to three points thanks to Tottenham, who stunned the Premier League leaders on Saturday night. City thought they had wrestled back a point in injury time when Riyad Mahrez made it 2-2 from the penalty spot. There was still enough time for Harry Kane to score a winner and revive the title race.

The team standing in the way of Jürgen Klopp‘s side is Leeds United, who are struggling with key players Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, and Patrick Bamford on the long-term injury list.

The game is scheduled to kick off Wednesday at 2:45 PM EST and will be shown live on USA.

Out: Roberto Firmino (Muscular)
Doubtful: Diogo Jota (Ankle)
Suspended: None
Coach: Jürgen Klopp

We all know Klopp will select his strongest side available to ensure they get three points and turn up the pressure on Manchester City.

Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to the starting lineup after being rested in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Norwich City. Ibrahima Konaté impressed at the San Siro last week and could replace Joël Matip in central defense.

Injuries to Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota opens up a starting spot for January signing Luis Díaz. The Columbia international scored his first goal for the club at the weekend and will play on the left side of the front three with Sadio Mané moving to the center.

Out: Liam Cooper (Thigh), Kalvin Phillips (Thigh), Leo Fuhr Hjelde (Knee), Patrick Bamford (Ankle), Sam Greenwood (Knee)
Doubtful: Robin Koch (Concussion)
Suspended: None
Coach: Marcelo Bielsa

It will be interesting to see if Marcelo Bielsa continues with the 4-2-3-1 formation he selected against Manchester United. Robin Koch is likely to be out with a concussion after Scott McTominay clattered into him. The German midfielder played on till the half-hour mark before being replaced by Junior Firpo, who came on at left-back with Stuart Dallas moving into central midfield.

At the start of the second half, Bielsa switched to a 3-4-3, bringing on youngster Joe Gelhardt and top goalscorer Raphinha. Both impressed with the latter getting on the scoresheet to make it 2-2. Eventually, Leeds ran out of steam, and United were able to pick them off on the counter with their quality to secure a 4-2 victory.

With Liverpool’s Moneyline at -575, we’re going to have to look in the Parlay and Same Game Parlay markets to find value. You know it’s going to be even more complicated when a Same Game Parlay (SGP) of Liverpool Moneyline, Over 2.5 Goals, and Mohamed Salah Anytime Goalscorer adds up to -140.

Looking through the options, I’m drawn to a SGP of Liverpool’s First Half -225 and Second Half -280 Moneyline’s. We need  Liverpool to outscore Leeds in both halves for this to cash, and I feel confident about it.

Bielsa has one of the league’s smallest squads and limited options due to injury. I don’t think they can compete for 90 minutes against a Liverpool side who are fully rested and motivated to get the three points in front of their fans.

PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS: Same Game Parlay Liverpool Moneyline First Half and Liverpool Moneyline Second Half +110
