Premier League Betting 21/22: Man City vs Leicester Betting Preview

Written By Alex Blowers on December 23, 2021

Manchester City have opened up a three-point lead at the top of the table thanks to slip-ups from their two title rivals. Liverpool were on the wrong side of two very poor refereeing decisions in their 2-2 draw away at Tottenham. Chelsea have struggled since they battered Juventus 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League, dropping nine points in the Premier League.

This Sunday, they take on Leicester City, who have been dealing with a significant Covid outbreak that forced them to close down their training facilities for 48 hours. The club haven’t confirmed which players have been affected, and it’s unclear who will be available for this game.

Out: Ferran Torres (Foot), Benjamin Mendy (Police Investigation), Liam Delap (Ankle)
Doubtful: Kyle Walker (Match Fitness)
Suspended: None
Coach: Pep Guardiola

I’m confident Pep Guardiola will select the same side that beat Newcastle 4-0. His players have had seven days off and will be fully refreshed for this match.

Jack Grealish and Phil Foden were dropped for the win over Newcastle after being photographed at a Manchester bar. The incident took place hours after they both scored in the 7-0 victory over Leeds United and while Guardiola was traveling to Spain to attend Sergio Aguero‘s retirement press conference at the Camp Nou. The duo could be recalled for this game, but I think Pep will keep them on the bench to reinforce his message.

There’s a strong possibility we will never see Ferran Torres play for City again. Reports emerged on Wednesday that the club have accepted a $66.6 million + $13.3 million offer from Barcelona for the 21-year-old, with the deal set to be confirmed shortly.

Doubtful: Çaglar Söyüncü (Thigh), Jonny Evans (Hamstring), Ricardo Pereira (Thigh), Hamza Choudhury (Covid), Daniel Amartey (Covid-19)

Coach: Brendan Rodgers

Leicester will be full of disappointment after letting a 3-1 lead against Liverpool slip in the Carabao Cup. They were 30 seconds away from reaching the semifinals when Takumi Minamino equalized to force penalties. Misses from Luke Thomas and Ryan Bertrand meant The Foxes came up short.

Çaglar Söyüncü and Ricardo Pereira both came off injured to add to Brendan Rodgers‘ injury woes. Jannik Vestergaard and Ryan Bertrand are the two most likely to take their places. Don’t be surprised if Patson Daka continues to partner Jamie Vardy up top in place of Kelechi Iheanacho.

MANCHESTER CITY VS LEICESTER CITY PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS

Manchester City are at full strength and one of the few clubs not to suffer from a Covid outbreak. In their last four Premier League games, they have pumped their opponents scoring 15, conceding one, and kept three clean sheets.

Leicester City have seen goals at both ends of the pitch, scoring 12 and conceding 10 in their last five matches. With their injury and Covid troubles combined with the disappointment of exiting the Carabao Cup on penalties, it’s going to take one hell of a turnaround for them to get something from this game.

Back Guardiola’s side to score goals and dominate proceedings from the off.
