Premier League Betting 21/22: Matchday 05 Lines and Tips

European club football kicked off this week with seven clubs from England playing in UEFA‘s three competitions. When making your Premier League betting picks this weekend, please pay close attention to each side’s lineups for these midweek games, how much distance they’ve had to travel, and how many days rest they’ve had.

For example, this weekend’s marquee fixture is Tottenham hosting Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Chelsea played Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League on Tuesday evening at Stamford Bridge and have ample time to rest and prepare for Sunday’s big game.

Spurs have to travel to France to face Stade Rennais on Thursday evening to become the first club from England to participate in UEFA’s newest competition, the Europa Conference League Group Stage. Depending on what lineup Nuno Espírito Santo selects, some players could only have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning to rest and prepare.

Anything can happen on the pitch, but Chelsea have a huge advantage going into this game. I recommend you consider this when choosing your bets in a week when European football’s taking place.

Five other teams are playing in UEFA’s competitions this week. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United are playing in the Champions League. On Thursday, Leicester City and West Ham are in the Europa League.

Let’s take a look at the 2021-22 Premier League Matchday 05 Betting Lines and Tips.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace against Newcastle, and everyone associated with Manchester United is losing their minds claiming he’s the best ever to play the game. Fortunately, there are sane-minded people like me, and Jamie Carragher knows Lionel Messi is easily the best player ever.

Ten years, one month, and three days after Romelu Lukaku signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht in an $18 million deal, he finally scored at Stamford Bridge. It was a complete performance from the Belgium international, who grabbed another goal in the second half and was a constant threat in the final third.

In my opinion, on form, he is the best striker in the Premier League at the moment. Draftkings are offering him at +250 to win the Golden Boot, and if he continues playing and scoring like this, he will be in the running come May.

Premier League Betting: Matchday 05 Lines and Tips

  • I am all over Chelsea on the Moneyline at -125. As I mentioned above, they have two more days than Tottenham to prepare for this game, and Lukaku is firing on all cylinders with four goals in four appearances.
  • On this week’s High Press Pod, I said I’m backing Arsenal on the Moneyline at +100 against Burnley. We saw Demarai Gray do Sean Dyche‘s side on the counter with his pace for Everton‘s third goal. I think Bukayo Saka, Nicholas Pépé, and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang could do something similar for The Gunners.
  • I’m going against my own team and backing Leeds United on the Moneyline at +130 for Friday’s night game. Pressure is mounting on Steve Bruce, and fans are particularly annoyed with him for going on holiday to Portugal during the international break.
  • I like Both Teams To Score YES and Over 2.5 Goals at +115 for Aston Villa‘s game against Everton. This bet would have cashed in three of Rafa Benitez‘s side four opening games, and I think both sides are stronger in attack than defense right now.
