Premier League Best and Worse Kits

In last week’s High Press Pod and Betting Preview, I predicted Liverpool could win this game comfortably by two or three goals, but I wasn’t expecting a 5-0 demolition. Manchester United were awful from start to finish, and it could have been a lot worse if Jürgen Klopp’s side didn’t take their foot off the gas after 50 minutes.

Recently, Ole has adopted a 4-2-4 formation, and the amount of space Scott McTominay and Fred are expected to cover in central midfield is outrageous. United didn’t press as a unit, and Liverpool were able to cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

Watch United’s defense for Naby Keïta’s opening goal:

  • Aaron Wan-Bissaka should not be pressing Andrew Robertson with a gap that big between United’s midfield and defense
  • Victor Lindelöf has to be tighter with Diogo Jota
  • Harry Maguire has to get tighter with Roberto Firmino or get Fred or McTominay to drop in and pick him up
  • Fred or McTominay have to pick up Keita’s run
  • Look at how much space Trent Alexander-Arnold (I think it’s him) has on the far right. If United were set up better defensively, Liverpool could have switched the play to him

A catalog of defensive mistakes makes you wonder what do they work on at the training ground all week?

At any other club, I think Solskjaer would be gone. If you’ve read my recent post Manchester United’s Next Manager Odds: Who Will Replace Solskjaer? You will know I believe Ole keeps his job this week. He has a good relationship with the Glazers, and they will give him time to turn things around. My monies on him getting fired after the Manchester City game.

19-year-old Joe Gelhardt came off the bench in the 62nd minute to make his second Premier League appearance and played a pivotal role in earning his side a point. His direct running caused panic in the Wolves defense forcing Nélson Semedo to bring him down for a penalty. Rodrigo converted to make it 1-1.

It was a rare high point for the fans who have watched their club struggle this season. The North Yorkshire side have made a poor start picking up seven points, and are down in 17th. With Norwich City up next, Marcelo Bielsa has to inspire his team to a win.

Premier League Betting: Matchday 10 Lines and Tips

  • I can’t decide between Chelsea on the Spread -1.5 Goals at +115 and Chelsea To Win To Nil at +105. Both have excellent chances of hitting against this Newcastle side, who still haven’t appointed a replacement for Steve Bruce. Chelsea have won three of their last four games by two goals or more, and the Spread odds are a little better, so I’m backing that.
  • I like Both Teams To Score YES and Over 2.5 Goals in Friday night’s game between Leicester City and Arsenal. This bet would have cashed in three of Arsenal’s last four games and all four of Leicester’s.
  • My monies on Daniel Farke to be the next Premier League manager sacked, and a heavy defeat to Leeds will seal his fate. Two goals scored, no wins, bottom of the league, and a 7-0 hiding off Chelsea is pitiful. This is Farke’s second time in the Premier League with Norwich, and they should be doing a lot better. Back Leeds on the Spread -1.5 Goals at +340.
