Premier League Betting 21/22: Matchday 22 Lines, Analysis and Tips

Written By Alex Blowers on January 12, 2022

We’re spoilt for choice in Matchday 22 with stellar fixtures at the top of the table, race for fourth place, and the relegation fight.

A victory for Manchester City will increase their lead to 13 points over Chelsea with 16 games left. There’s no way Thomas Tuchel‘s side will be able to make that up and will end their title hopes for the season.

On Sunday it’s the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham. A win for Antonio Conte‘s side will see them leapfrog their bitter rivals in the table and put them in control of fourth place with two games in hand. Mikel Arteta‘s side have grown in the last few months and a victory here will give their confidence levels a massive shot in the arm.

At the other end of the table, it’s my Newcastle facing Watford at Vicarage Road. This is a must-win game for us and if results go our way three points could lift us out of the relegation zone. That would be a massive psychological boost and a sign that things are improving under Eddie Howe.

Newcastle could have Burnley striker Chris Wood leading the line for them. The new owners are willing to meet for New Zealand international’s $34 million release clause, and he is reported to be in the North East ready to finalize the deal. Wood would be a great signing who brings a wealth of relegation survival experience and weakens one of our rivals.

  • I’m all for people locking in their bets early to get the best price, but that’s potentially the worst thing you can do in the current climate. The best thing to do is wait till an hour before kickoff when the lineups are released to decide if you want to place your bet. Keep a close eye on each side’s team news, and if a star player is ruled out, you might be able to place a bet before the Sportsbooks can readjust their lines.
  • Manchester United were very fortunate to beat Aston Villa 1-0 in the FA Cup on Monday. Fate has them meeting this Saturday again, and I think a SGP of Both Teams To Score YES and Aston Villa To Win or Draw or +140 is great value. Steven Gerrard‘s side will be full of confidence, the club have just confirmed Phillippe Coutinho‘s loan from Barcelona, and reportedly Lucas Digne is on his way too.
  • If Chris Wood completes his move to Newcastle, I recommend jumping on Leicester City‘s Moneyline at +145. Sean Dyche has done an excellent job of convincing players to stay at the club, but Wood could be the first of many to leave. Captain Ben Mee and James Tarkowski have six months left on their deals. We could see them pushing for a move causing unrest in the dressing room.
