Premier League January Transfer Tracker, News and Rumors 2021

Written By Alex Blowers on January 5, 2022 - Last Updated on January 10, 2022

The January Transfer Window is open and the big question is, who will Newcastle sign now we’re the wealthiest club in the world?

Second from bottom and with relegation a real threat, there’s a possibility we will spend all of our reported $270 million transfer budget. Naturally, we have been linked to every player available, from Erling Haaland to Odion Ighalo, and last week I broke down who we could sign; check it out HERE.

There are 19 other clubs with just as many rumors circulating about them, and below is my take on the biggest ones. I will continue to update this page throughout the month with all the latest Premier League January Transfer stories.

PREMIER LEAGUE JANUARY TRANSFER RUMORS

VILLA SET TO WIN THE RACE FOR LUCAS DIGNE

70% chance of happening

Newcastle, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and West Ham are all reported to be interested but it’s Aston Villa who are leading the charge with El Ghazi potentially going in the opposite direction. The Everton left-back fell out with Rafa Benítez in early December and hasn’t played since. Lucas Digne and Phillippe Coutinho‘s signature in the same window would represent great business by The Villians.

I’ll be surprised and not at the same time if Digne chooses Villa. With reported interest from Chelsea and Inter, I thought he would hold out for a bigger club that offers European soccer. On the other hand, it’s exciting times at Villa Park under Steven Gerrard and a couple more top-quality signings could see them become a real force next season.

ANTONIO CONTE WANTS DEJAN KULUSEVSKI

65% chance of happening

Tottenham are expected to be busy in the January Transfer Window, and one of their top targets is Juventus‘s Dejan Kulusevski. The Swedish international has struggled for minutes under Max Allegri, making four starts in Serie A this season. Antonio Conte is believed to be a big admirer, and we could see him in North London soon.

AARON RAMSEY REJECTS BURNLEY

0% chance of happening

If this is true, this is a hail mary from Sean Dyche. It’s reported Aaron Ramsey is collecting $540k a week in Turin, and there’s no way Burnley can offer anywhere close to those wages. Do we genuinely believe the Welsh international would trade competing in the UEFA Champions League for a Premier League relegation battle?

Never going to happen.
