Premier League Matchday 14 Betting Tips

Posted By Alex Blowers on December 18, 2020

Matchday 13 was another round of unlucky picks. None of my bets hit & I’m sitting at -6.06 Units.

Liverpool are back on the top of the Premier League after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-1. For me, the best part was seeing Jose Mourinho trying to antagonize Jurgen Klopp in the pre-match interview. A lot of people thought The Special One’s best days were past him & he was the wrong appointment for Spurs. He has his swagger back & I highly recommend tuning in for his press conferences & interviews.

I’m holding Tim Sherwood personally responsible for costing me Under 2.5 Goals in this game. He totally jinxed the goal in the 90th minute & is one of the worse TV pundits around. How he was given the opportunity to manage Spurs & Aston Villa is beyond me.

Southampton dominated this game & deserved the 3 points. Nathan Redmond was inches away from getting the winner & The Saints should have been awarded a penalty after Moussa Djenepo was body checked. Gabriel’s sending off killed this game with Arsenal retreating to get the draw.

This was always a long shot & we got off to a great start. Dean Henderson dawdled on the ball to gift David McGoldrick the opening goal. I started to believe they could actually pull it off but Manchester United are used to coming from behind. This is the 6th straight away game they’ve won after conceding first.

To be fair to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, this is also there 10th straight away win. If they win their game in hand they’ll go 2nd & 2 points behind leaders Liverpool. After the game questions were put to him about his players believing they could win the title.

He was cautious in his response. “We can’t get our heads too far ahead, but I am happy the players might be thinking that way because that means recovery, focus is better and those little margins mean a lot,”.

He has every reason to be, because there’s no chance they win this title. I’m still not convinced that Ole’s the man to lead this side & I think it will all unravel before the end of the season.

Son Heung-Min was crowned the winner of this years Puskas award for his majestic solo goal against Burnley. This is the third time in four years the winning goal has been scored in a Premier League fixture.

Everton are back up to 5th with impressive wins over Chelsea & Leicester in their last two games. Carlo Ancelotti has turned it around after picking up 5 points from a possible 21 prior to these victories. A big factor in that slump was Richarlison’s 3 game suspension for getting sent off in the Merseyside Derby. Since he’s returned it’s 10 points from a possible 15.

Arsenal are still looking like a side in trouble. Gabriel & Granit Xhaka are serving suspensions & Thomas Partey is out injured. David Luiz has recovered from the injury he picked up in that awful clash of heads with Raúl Jiménez.

The Gunners have received a lot of criticism this season & the majority of it centers around their lack of creativity in the final third. A lot of people are calling for Mikel Arteta to bring Mesut Özil back into the fold but I don’t think he’s the solution. Joseph Willock & Edward Nketiah have shined in the Europa League. Arteta needs to ditch Nicolas Pépé & Alexandre Lacazette & give these two an extended run in the Premier League.

Richarlison’s starting to hit his stride & Dominic Calvert-Lewin is scoring goals for fun. I’m backing Everton to win.

Prediction – 2 Units: Everton Money Line +132

Chelsea had the chance to go top last Saturday & now find themselves down in 7th. Losses against Everton & Wolves have stunted their title challenge & highlighted the naivety in Frank Lampard’s young squad. Against Wolves they pushed for the win in stoppage time, leaving themselves open to the counter.

One thing you can guarantee about Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is that they know how to transition quickly. Vitinha released Pedro Neto who done brilliantly to smash the winner in from that angle.

West Ham are having an excellent season, but, they still haven’t beaten a Top Six side. The Hammers have lost against Arsenal, Liverpool & Manchester United & drawn with Tottenham & Manchester City. My monies on Chelsea bouncing back with a convincing win.

Prediction – 2 Units: Chelsea -1.5 Goals +135
