Premier League Matchday 19 Betting Tips

Posted By Alex Blowers on January 15, 2021

In Matchday 18 Part 1, one of my bets hit, one didn’t & the other succumbed to COVID-19. That left me with a small profit of 1.318 Units. I’m close to being out of the red.

Hours after finishing my post, the Premier League rearranged Tottenham’s opponents. Still, in the midst of a COVID-19 outbreak & to preserve the league’s sporting integrity, the game with Aston Villa was canceled. On Monday morning, Fulham got the call to step in & Scott Parker called the decision “scandalous.”

José Mourinho couldn’t resist stoking the flames. The Tottenham boss called for Parker to apologize if he names a strong starting eleven. The game was originally due to take place on December 30th during the hectic festive schedule & Mourinho thinks The Cottagers gained an unfair advantage in regards to fatigue.

There is history between these two. In the Summer of 2004, Parker was 5 months into his Chelsea career, had just been named PFA Young Player of the Year & about to enter his prime. The ‘Special One‘ moved to Stamford Bridge as the champion of Europe & Thiago was signed. Parker became a backup & was restricted to 7 appearances before breaking his foot twice. Chelsea won the Premier League & League Cup & Parker moved at the end of the season to Newcastle in a £6.5 million deal.

This match played out to a familiar end. Spurs dominated the opening stages & took the lead after Sergio Reguilón delivered a beautiful cross for Harry Kane to head home. Tottenham defended their lead in the second half & this allowed Fulham back into the game. Ivan Cavaleiro headed in the equalizer on 74 minutes to punish Tottenham’s inability to see a game out.

Burnley beating Manchester United was always a hail mary. Again, the Red Devils had lady luck on their side when Luke Shaw escaped a sending off. His tackle on Jóhann Berg Gudmundsson was:

  • Reckless
  • Endangered an opponent
  • Studs were off the ground & over the ball
  • Shaw wasn’t in control

We’ve seen a few Red Cards given for similar tackles this season & again, the Referee & VAR officials show themselves to be inconsistent. Paul Pogba broke the deadlock in the 71st minute. Marcus Rashford picked him out on the edge of the box & the World Cup winner scored via a fortunate deflection to take the Red Devils top.

Both Teams Scoring in Wolves VS Everton cashed after 14 minutes. Alex Iwobi finished off a lovely team move to open the scoring on 6 minutes & Rúben Neves equalized 8 minutes later. Michael Keane settled this game with a towering header at the back post & Carlo Ancelotti is on course to get The Toffees into Europe.

There is so much at stake in this fixture & it will be one of the games of the season. Manchester United are top & a win will open a 6 point gap over Liverpool. Victory for Jurgen Klopp’s side will take them back to the top of the league & deal a blow to the Red Devils title charge.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side has come up short in their big games this season. When it mattered most, they lost to PSG at Old Trafford & away to RB Leipzig to exit the Champions League. They crashed out of the League Cup after losing 2-0 to Manchester City in the semi-finals.

Liverpool has struggled in recent weeks, dropping 9 points in their last 6 games against opposition they should have beaten comfortably. Their one big game in that run was against Tottenham & they came out on top 2-1. Earlier this season, they beat Leicester, Arsenal & Chelsea & drew with Manchester City & Everton.

Jurgen Klopp gets the best out of his side in the big games & I’m confident they’ll be top of the league come Sunday night.

Prediction – 3 Units: Liverpool Money Line -103

Brighton has gone 8 games without a win in the Premier League & this is their third game in seven days. Last Sunday, Newport County took them to extra time & penalties in the FA Cup 3rd Round. They spent Wednesday evening chasing shadows in their 1-0 loss away to Manchester City.

Leeds United are coming off an embarrassing 3-0 loss to Crawley Town in the FA Cup. Marcelo Bielsa is known for his meticulous planning & he has had 7 days to prepare his side for this game. He will want a big response from his players & I feel that his high-intensity pressing style of play will be too much for Graham Potter’s fatigued side.

Leeds will win this by 2 or 3 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: Leeds United -1.5 Goals +290
