Premier League Matchday 23 Betting Tips: Liverpool Host Manchester City

Posted By Alex Blowers on February 5, 2021

Matchday 22 turned out to be a profitable round of games. 2 of my 3 bets hit to finish with 2.307 Units of profit, and overall I’m up $7.28.

Hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks with your thoughts, who you support, and picks for the week.

You’re 1-0 down at home to Chelsea, facing your third defeat in a row, Harry Kane is out injured, and you have four-time Champions League and two times La Liga winner Gareth Bale sitting on the bench. Surely you put him on? Even if it’s just for the last 5 minutes. José Mourinho only made 2 substitutions, and it is baffling to see Bale ride the bench. Spurs are paying the whole of his $26 million wages for the season, and it’s emerging as one of the worse transfer deals of the season.

I shouldn’t complain too much as it helped me cash my Under 2.5 Goals bet to finish the matchday in profit.

Tottenham is down to 8th, and I don’t know if Mourinho will be in charge next season. It’s crazy to be talking about this, considering they were top of the Premier League earlier in the season and looking like genuine title contenders. His future depends on how they do in the League Cup final and the Europa League.

The chairman Daniel Levy comes across as a man who puts the club first over everything and anyone. If José can’t deliver, he will find someone who can.

James Maddison produced a majestic man of the match performance to help me cash my -1.5 Goals bet. Fulham couldn’t handle the 24-year-old playmaker who set up both goals for Kelechi Iheanacho and James Justin as Leicester City won 2-0. The 3 points moves Brendan Rodgers side up to 3rd, and they have a 4 point cushion over 5th placed West Ham.

Sports Books has them priced at -112 to finish in the Top 4. I feel that’s a little short looking at their squad size and reliance on Jamie Vardy. Chelsea is better value at +130. Thomas Tuchel has one of the league’s best squads available to him, and that will prove to be the difference in the latter stages of the season.

I backed West Brom or the Draw and thought I had this wrapped up at half-time. The Baggies were leading 1-0 after Matt Phillips scored on 41 minutes, and I was certain they wouldn’t concede 2 goals. Sam Allardyce would refocus his players, get them organized, instruct them to sit deep, and they would get something out of this game.

The Blades dominated the second half and turned this tie around. Jayden Bogle and club legend Billy Sharp scored the goals to give them a glimmer of hope of surviving. They face Chelsea, West Ham, Fulham, Liverpool, and Southampton next. They are 11 points from safety, and 6 points from these 5 games would

The biggest winners of this result were Brighton, Newcastle, and Burnley, who are all sitting at least 8 points above the Relegation Zone. All of them will probably survive due to the three sides below them being worse.

This has become the Premier League’s biggest fixture in recent seasons, and we all know both club’s current situations.

Liverpool’s injury crisis is starting to catch them up with them. Their 3 first-choice CB’s Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip, are out for the season. Jurgen Klopp has been forced to deploy Fabinho and Jordan Henderson at CB, which has weakened the midfield. Their 68 game unbeaten run at Anfield was ended by Burnley a couple of weeks ago.

Pep Guardiola has his side in peak form. They are on a 13 game winning streak and haven’t lost in 20 games in all competitions. Pep has remolded them into the Premier League’s best defense and hasn’t conceded in their last 6 league games. Manchester City will get the win here and leave with their 14th clean sheet of the season.

Prediction – 2 Units: Manchester City Win to Nil Yes +300

If you’ve been reading my posts the last couple of weeks, you can probably tell that Tuchel’s becoming one of my favorite managers. I’ve enjoyed his interviews, tactics, style of play, and his squad use has been brilliant. After 3 games, it’s 2 wins, 1 draw, 0 goals conceded, and Edouard Mendy has only faced 2 shots on target. Tuchel will do great things at Stamford Bridge.

The majority of Sheffield United’s losses this season have been by a single goal. Chelsea is one of the few sides to beat them by more when they won 4-1 back in early November, and they will do it again on Sunday.

Back Chelsea to win by 2 or 3 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: Chelsea -1.5 Goals +138

David Moyes has done a fantastic job turning this side around and getting them up to 5th. The Hammers have been top-heavy in recent seasons, and Moyes has trimmed the fat whilst making smart moves in the transfer market. Saïd Benrahma has been signed permanently for $24.2 million. Jesse Lingard looks like a great loan signing after scoring a brace on his debut against Aston Villa.

Fulham hasn’t won in 7 games and has won just once lost in their last 13. West Ham has won 7 of their last 8 in all competitions. On recent form, this looks like 3 points for The Hammers, and +105 is great value.

Prediction – 3 Units: West Ham Money Line +105
