Premier League Matchday 26 Betting Tips: Chelsea vs Manchester United

Posted By Alex Blowers on February 26, 2021

I ended Matchday 25 with 2.8 Units of profit after 2 of my 6 bets hit.

My Under 2.5 Goals Parlay hit, and Everton or the Draw cashed after they ended their 10-year winless run against Liverpool with a 2-0 victory. It would have been more if referee Chris Kavanagh did his job. Trent Alexander-Arnold should have been sent off for denying Dominic Calvert-Lewin a clear goalscoring opportunity, and that would have been an extra 4.5 Units or profit.

7 weeks ago, under Frank Lampard, did anyone think Chelsea was capable of the performance they produced against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League?

Yes, Diego Simeone’s side was poor, but it is still a testament to how good a job Thomas Tuchel is doing. Especially when you consider he still doesn’t fully know his strongest eleven and best formation.

I’ve always rated Olivier Giroud and felt he has never got the praise he fully deserves. The issue with modern-day football is Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo have distorted how we measure players’ quality because their numbers are so ridiculous. Also, a lot of people play Fantasy Premier League (FPL). Some can rate players by how many points they score in a season which is completely unjust.

Giroud is so much more than a goalscorer. He’s brilliant at leading the line, being a focal point, and bringing others into play. The man is a World Cup, Ligue 1, 3x FA Cup, Europa League, and FIFA Puskás Award winner, for crying out loud. I was happy to see him score this brilliant acrobatic bicycle kick and receive the plaudits he fully deserves.

This Sunday, they welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge. The Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer operates in a completely different style. He picks his best eleven, hopes for the best, and reacts to the opposition. Fortunately, he has the remarkable Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings in the final third, making things happen and bailing him out of trouble. Paul Pogba is still expected to be unavailable as he recovers from injury, and he is a big miss for them.

They are coming off a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad in the Europa League. Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Anthony Martial, and Victor Lindelöf all played at least 45 minutes, and I’m sure they will all start against Chelsea. I know a few of The Blue’s players who featured against Atlético will start on Sunday as well, but they have had two more days of rest.

Looking at the lines, I think Chelsea is good value at +123 and ridiculous value at +380 if you handicap them at -1.5 Goals. Tuchel is a tactically flexible manager and has a fresh N’Golo Kanté at his disposal who can keep Fernandes quiet. Tuchel will go into the game with a plan whilst Solksjaer won’t and will react as the game plays out. By then, it will be too late.

Chelsea gets the win and possibly by 2 or 3 goals.

Prediction – 2 Units: Chelsea Money Line +128 | 1 Unit: Chelsea -1.5 Goals +380

Liverpool has lost 4 home games in a row for the first time since 1923. Fortunately, this weekend’s game isn’t at Anfield, and they’ve played a lot better away in recent weeks, winning 4 and losing 2 in their last 6 games in all competitions. They travel to Bramall Lane to face the Premier League’s worse side Sheffield United. Surely Jurgen Klopp’s side will be able to get back to winning ways.

Tottenham and Dele Alli will be hoping they can transfer their Europa League form to the Premier League. An 8-1 aggregate demolition over Austrian side Wolfsberger AC (Not to be confused with Wolfsburg from the Bundesliga) with Alli the star of the show in the second leg. He provided 2 assists on either side of his own emphatic bicycle kick goal. The 24-year-old has featured more in recent weeks, and it’s time José Mourinho starts him in the Premier League. I think he and Tanguy Ndombélé could play together with Alli operating further forward.

They welcome Burnley to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Sean Dyche has failed to beat Mourinho in 10 attempts with 6 defeats and 4 draws. Mourinho has a fully rested Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Ndombélé, Sergio Reguilón, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to unleash, which will be enough to make it 7 victories for “The Special One” over Dyche.

Both of these sides will collect 3 points.

Prediction – 3 Units: Liverpool and Tottenham Money Line Parlay +116
