Premier League Matchday 28 Betting Tips: Arsenal vs Tottenham

Posted By Alex Blowers on March 12, 2021

Both of my Under 2.5 Goals picks came through in Matchday 27. Unfortunately, Manchester City lost, which cost me a big win and I finished the weekend with 3.22 Units of profit.

Hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks with your thoughts, who you support, and picks for the week.

The North London Derby is one of the Premier League’s Marquee fixtures. We have seen some amazing battles over the years between these two sides, but I think this installment will be a little different.

This game is sandwiched between the Last 16 Europa League fixtures for both sides who are struggling domestically. Each side’s most viable route of qualifying for the Champions League is winning this competition, which shows in their team selections.

Mikel Arteta started Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang, Thomas Partey, Bukayo Sako, Kieran Tierney, David Luiz, and Hector Bellerin in their 3-1 victory against Olympiacos. That gamble paid off with 3 away goals helping them put one foot into the Quarterfinals.

Tottenham is down in 7th and could still make the Top 4. But, Daniel Levy, who celebrated his 20th year at the club this week, appointed the pragmatic José Mourinho primarily to win silverware. The Tottenham chairman has achieved so much off the pitch with the new stadium and training ground, but it’s a trophy he craves the most, and he will see the Europa League as a winnable competition.

Mourinho does too and started Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Tanguy Ndombélé, and Davinson Sánchez against Dinamo Zagreb. A Kane brace sealed a 2-0 victory, and they should make it to the next stage. Spurs fans were concerned after seeing the physios ice the England captain’s knee on the sidelines.

Speaking about the injury, Mourinho said: “Harry, I don’t believe is anything big. Sunday is a match everyone wants to play, and little things will not stop him. I don’t have the feeling it is anything serious.”

I feel you have to take these comments with a pinch of salt. Mourinho is a master of mind games and would downplay the injury no matter what the severity was. Spurs were pretty poor without their star striker, and I doubt he would risk him even against Arsenal.

Arteta will definitely ring the changes for this game after 9 players started the 1-1 draw with Burnley last weekend and the win over Olympiacos. The Gunners had a 3000-mile roundtrip, whereas Tottenham played at home, and only 4 players started their 4-1 win over Crystal Palace and the victory over Dynamo Zagreb.

Tottenham is the fresher side, and that is why I’m backing them to win.

Prediction – 2 Units: Tottenham Money Line +175

This game is a 6 pointer in the battle for the Top 4.

A win for Manchester United will strengthen their claim for 2nd and put 9 points between them and West Ham, who are in 5th. A win for The Hammers will close the gap to 3 points and drag Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side back into the race for Champions League qualification.

This is a big fixture for David Moyes. He left United almost 7 years ago with his reputation in tatters, and only now is he starting to find redemption with this West Ham side. He will want to get the win over his former employees, but he will have to do it without February’s Player of the Month Jesse Lingard who is ineligible to face his parent club.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, Daniel James, Dean Henderson, and Anthony Martial all started the Manchester Derby and Europe League game against AC Milan. Simon Kjaer’s 92nd-minute equalizer has swung the tie into The Rossoneri’s favor, and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will have one eye on the second leg coming up on Thursday. This is his second full season in charge, and he wants silverware to silence his many critics.

Bruno Fernandes also started against Milan in what was his 17th game in 59 days. That works out to a game every 3.47 days, and he has started 15 of them. The physical demands being put on the players are ridiculous, and Marcus Rashford is unlikely to feature as he recovers from his ankle injury.

All of the momentum is with West Ham, and they are the fresher side. I’m putting my money behind them to get something from this game.

Prediction – 2 Units: West Ham or the Draw -103

Fulham is in great form, but it’s nothing compared to Manchester City’s. Pep Guardiola’s side bounced back from their 2-0 defeat in the Manchester Derby with a 5-2 thumping over Southampton. Scott Parker’s side will put up a valiant fight but will ultimately lose to the best team in the land.

Leicester City’s comeback win against Brighton will do wonders for their morale. They welcome bottom side Sheffield United to the King Power Stadium, and home advantage will get them the 3 points.

Prediction – 2 Units: Manchester City and Leicester City Money Line Parlay +101
