Premier League Matchday 35 Betting Tips: Manchester City vs Chelsea

Posted By Alex Blowers on May 7, 2021

Matchday 34 was another disappointing weekend ending in a 4 Unit loss.

If any of us knew Jannik Vestergaard would be sent off after 10 minutes, we would have put a considerable amount of money behind Leicester City on the Money Line and probably fancied them handicapped at -1.5 or -2.5 Goals. Somehow Southampton stood strong, and the game finished 1-1.

Both of my bets in Sunday’s big game were a push after it was called off. A group of Manchester United’s fans entered the stadium and invaded the pitch whilst another camped out at the team hotel preventing the team from leaving.

Hit me up on Twitter @RegistaPicks with your thoughts, who you support, and picks for the week.

This will be billed as a preview to the Champions League final, but both sides will approach this game very differently than when they meet on May 29th.

Manchester City’s previous two title wins under Pep Guardiola were confirmed when Manchester United lost to West Brom in 2017/18, and they Brighton at The Amex in 2018/19. They are one win away from winning the Premier League and will want to do it on their terms at The Etihad to cap off a historic week in the club’s history.

Chelsea have two possible routes into next season’s Champions League. They can finish in the Top 4 or win this year’s competition. A defeat here would keep them in 4th no matter what the sides below them do due to their superior goal difference. They really need to take something from this game with Arsenal, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and an FA Cup final coming up.

Both managers have excellent squads available to them, and we could see both make a few changes to the sides that started the semi-finals. Guardiola has Raheem Sterling, Rodri, João Cancelo, Benjamin Mendy, Aymeric Laporte, Sergio Agüero, and Gabriel Jesus fresh and eager to play. Thomas Tuchel could bring in Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Marcus Alonso, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mateo Kovačić (if fit), Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulišić, Olivier Giroud, or Tammy Abraham.

Every one of these players wants to start the upcoming cup finals. They will be going all out to impress and make the most of every opportunity their respective managers give them. This means we are in for a brilliant, hotly contested affair with both sides going for victory.

Back goals from both teams in this game, and I’m leaning towards City getting the win. The Citizens have home advantage, had an extra day of rest, and are a little more experienced.

Prediction – 2 Units: Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score YES +160 | 2 Units: Manchester City Money Line -106

West Ham have a real chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Michail Antonio and Aaron Cresswell are back from injury, and they have a favorable run-in with Brighton, West Brom, and Southampton up next. Sports Books have them priced at +450 to make the Top 4, and I think that’s worth considering.

Everton are down in 8th and will be hungry to bring European football of any kind to Goodison Park. Their best chance is pipping local rivals, Liverpool, to 7th and qualifying for UEFA’s newest competition, the Conference League. After this game, they face Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Wolves, and Manchester City. If you like their run-in and think they can go one position better. Sports Books are offering them at +1000 to make the Top 6.

Both sides need a win to keep pace with the teams above them. I think they will both throw caution to the wind and go for the 3 points. In recent games, West Ham have been leaking goals but outscoring their opponents. Five of their last six have finished Over 2.5 Goals with both sides scoring, and four of those finished Over 3.5 Goals. Everton have been more reserved in their last six games, with one of them finishing Over 3.5 Goals. Three of those games did finish Over 2.5 Goals, with both teams scoring.

Put your money behind goals in this game.

Prediction – 2 Units: Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams To Score YES +116 | 1 Unit: Over 3.5 Goals +225
