Premier League Matchday 36 Betting Tips: Manchester United vs Liverpool

Posted By Alex Blowers on May 11, 2021

Me and Manchester City were both robbed. Kurt Zouma blatantly fouled Raheem Sterling in the 88th minute, and it should have been a penalty. That probably would have made it 2-1 to Pep Guardiola’s side making them champions, and my City Money Line bet would have cashed.

Instead, Chelsea went down the other end and scored for my Both Teams To Score YES, and Over 2.5 Goals bet. I only made 1.2 Units of profit from this game instead of 5.087.

Everton beat West Ham 1-0 to sink my other two bets. I thought there would be more goals in this game, and both sides had chances, but the finishing was poor. That result meant one of my four bets hit, and I finished down -1.8 Units.

This game was supposed to take place on Matchday 34, but Manchester United’s fans had different ideas. The fans congregated outside Old Trafford to protest the Glazer family’s ownership. A group of them were able to postpone the match after gaining entry to the stadium and invading the pitch whilst another camped out at the team hotel in central Manchester, preventing them from leaving.

In the days after the incident, the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) published an open letter to Joel Glazer with a list of demands. He responded with his own offering his “sincere apology for the mistakes that were made” in regards to the Super League and promising change “with deeper consultation with you as our main fan representative body across a range of important issues.”

Time will tell if this is a PR stunt to try and quash the fan’s momentum or recent events have triggered an Ebenezer Scrooge transformation in the Glazer’s hearts.

Champions League qualification is looking possible for Liverpool after their rivals dropped points at the weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s side are 6 points behind 4th placed Leicester City with a game in hand and have a much easier run-in. After this game, they play West Brom, Burnley, and Crystal Palace whilst The Foxes face Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham and the FA Cup Final.

If you think Liverpool can make the Top 4 Draftkings are offering them at +105, and I’m going to invest a couple of Units in them doing it. Brendan Rogers’ side are imploding just like last season.

This week they face a difficult trip to Old Trafford to face their biggest rivals. They have lost $64 million due to COVID-19 over the past 12 months. Making the Top 4 would boost their finances and transfer budget for next season.

Manchester United can still win the Premier League, but the race is as good as over. The Red Devils are 10 points behind the leaders with a game in hand and 15 goals worse off. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side faces Leicester City and Liverpool in a 48-hour window. They would need to win to all of their remaining fixtures, with City collapsing against Newcastle, Brighton, and Everton failing to get the 2 points they need.

Liverpool will get the win they need with Thiago bossing the midfield and dictating the tempo.

Prediction – 2 Units: Liverpool Money Line +112 | 2 Units: Liverpool to make the Top 4 +105

Chelsea are flying right now under Thomas Tuchel. They have the FA Cup Final and Champions League Final coming up, are on course to make the Top 4, and just beat Manchester City at The Etihad. They will be a serious player in next season’s title race, and Tuchel will transform this side again in the Summer with a few signings and a full pre-season.

If he can get the better of Guardiola, Zinédine Zidane, Klopp, José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and Diego Simeone, he can take care of Mikel Arteta and this poor Arsenal side.

Back Chelsea to win.

Prediction – 3 Units: Chelsea Money Line -150
