UEFA Champions League Betting 21/22: Chelsea vs Juventus Betting Preview

Written By Alex Blowers on November 22, 2021

The UEFA Champions League returns this week for Matchday 05, and one of the biggest fixtures is between Chelsea and Juventus.

These two sides occupy first and second in Group H and look destined to make the Knockout Stages. Chelsea needs to win this game by two goals or more to beat Juve to top spot on the head-to-head rule. If Max Allegri‘s side can avoid defeat, they’ll be the ones finishing first.UEFA Champions League Betting: Chelsea vs Juventus Betting Preview

UEFA Champions League Betting: Chelsea vs Juventus Betting Preview

Out: Mateo Kovačić (Hamstring)
Doubtful: Romelu Lukaku (Ankle)
Suspended: None
Coach: Thomas Tuchel

Jorginho limped off in the 79th minute against Leicester City but is expected to start this game. Thomas Tuchel reassured everyone in his post-match press conference that it wasn’t that serious.

He said, “He said he feels like cramps. In the moment, I would say absolutely no muscle injuries, and with that, no doubt for Tuesday.”

César Azpilicueta has started all four of Chelsea’s Champions League matches. He was rested on Saturday and should return to the starting lineup Trevoh Chalobah dropping to the bench. Marcus Alonso has recovered from his ankle injury and could start at left wing-back. But I don’t think Tuchel will take the risk, and Ben Chilwell will keep his place.

Romelu Lukaku is close to returning from the ankle injury that has kept him out for the last month. Tuchel said he could be on the bench for this game “If everything works out perfectly,” but it’s more likely he will make his return against his former club Manchester United on Sunday.

Timo Werner is back from injury, but I’m confident Kai Havertz will continue as the Number 9. His ability to move between the lines and find space will cause Juventus’ backline problems who I’m sure will sit deep to limit the space behind them.

Out: Federico Bernardeschi (Shoulder), Mattia De Sciglio (Hamstring), Aaron Ramsey (Flexor)
Doubtful: Paulo Dybala (Muscular), Danilo (Abductor or Bruised Thigh), Giorgio Chiellini (Thigh)
Suspended: None
Coach: Max Allegri

I think Allegri will match Chelsea and go with a 3-5-2 formation. Daniel Rugani will come into the back three for Danilo, who was stretchered off on Saturday after 15 minutes. The club are hoping it’s just a badly bruised thigh and not abductor damage.

Adrien Rabiot should make way for Rodrigo Bentancur, who is more defensively minded. Aaron Ramsey is unavailable again after picking up a flexor injury on international duty for Wales. The news infuriated the Italian media, with Tuttosport running an article titled, ‘Are you kidding us?’ where they questioned his commitment to the club.

CHELSEA VS JUVENTUS UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING TIPS

When these two met in Matchday 02, Chelsea controlled the game seeing 73% of the ball and registering 16 attempts on goal to Juventus’ six. Despite their dominance, Juve got a 1-0 win thanks to Federico Chiesa‘s goal moments into the second half.

I think we will see this match play out in a similar way. Juve will remain top of Group H if they avoid losing by two goals or more, and we will see them adopt a defensive game plan. However, this time I think Chelsea will benefit from home advantage and get the win.

Both sides have averaged 3.2 Total Goals in their last five fixtures. I recommend Parlaying Under 3.5 Goals with Chelsea’s Moneyline.
