On Friday, UEFA held their Champions League quarterfinal draw.
It was a good day for Atletico Madrid. It was very much not a good day for Barcelona and Juventus.
As is always the case, the draw shifted Champions League winner odds. Here’s a look at where all 12 remaining clubs stand.
Champions League futures after quarterfinal draw
Manchester City +350 | Bayern Munich +375 | PSG +400 | Atletico Madrid +800 |
Barcelona +900 | Atalanta +1000 | RB Leipzig +1600 | Juventus +1700 |
Real Madrid +3300 | Napoli +7000 | Lyon +10000 | Chelsea +40000 |
Champions League quarterfinal probabilities after the draw
Before going into specific thoughts on match-ups, here’s how 538 sees the probabilities of the teams with a viable chance of advancing.
Atletico Madrid now among the favorites
Before the draw, Diego Simeone’s side was priced at +1200. Getting a Timo Werner-less RB Leipzig in the quarters has Atleti now at 4th best odds at +800.
Juventus, Barcelona in trouble
Both Juventus and Barcelona have their work cut out for them.
In Juventus’ case, they’re not even favored to make it out of the Round of 16. They trail Lyon 1-0 on aggregate and failed to tally and away goal. If Juve do advance, they’ll most likely face title favorites FFP violating Manchester City.
Because of this, Ronaldo’s team has seen their odds go from as high as +1100 to +1700 now.
Barcelona are 80% to get past Napoli into the quarters. However, the Catalans will likely face Bayern Munich once there. Messi & Co’s odds have tumbled from +600 to +900.
Atalanta surge as well
No team in Europe is hotter than Atalanta after the restart. They’ll face a rusty PSG in the quarters. While defeating PSG is by no means an easy task, Atalanta have moved from +2100 to +1000. Bettors like this squad.
