USWNT Hit Double Digits, Thrash Thailand 13-0, Set Largest Margin for Victory in Women’s World Cup History

Well, that was a helluva statement.

The USWNT began it’s Women’s World Cup title defense by utterly thrashing Thailand 13-0.

The 13 goal win breaks the the all-time record for margin of victory in a Women’s World Cup.

The 10 (!!!) second half goals are also the most ever in one World Cup half.

Alex Morgan scores 5, basically wins the Golden Boot on day 1

Alex Morgan led the US with five goals. We wrote back in January to watch her for the Golden Boot award, and well, that prop bet will likely come off the board now.

Morgan ties Michelle Akers for most ever goals in a WWC game.

Also scoring goals were Rose Lavelle (her first two goals ever in the WWC), Lindsey Horan, Sam Mewis (2 goals), Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd, and Mallory Pugh (her first ever in the WWC).

USWNT are NOT the favorites after that win

Despite the record setting win, the USWNT are not World Cup title favorites. France has moved to +230 compared to the US’ +260 on FanDuel Sportsbook NJ.
